Hi All,

I have just been invited to my county CORE assessment evening and I was just looking for some advice…

I’m currently a Y1 on promotion to Y2, so haven’t had one or know about it, (apart from the information given about LOTG assessment, fitness test and match clip analysis etc…)

Any advice or tips on how to prepare would be much appreciated 👍.

I don't know what county you're in? But county core is a feeder in to national core for lower level referees, so it's a good program to be a part of. If you can secure a national core nomination then it's a fantastic program to be a part of.

I think the best way to prepare would be to find and try online LOTG tests (these are often about intricate, unconsidered parts of law, rather than 'can you score directly from a throw-in').
You can't do much prep for clip analysis, just make sure that if you're asked to explain your decision you use law to back it up (words like reckless for a caution or excessive force for a red card)
For fitness, have you ever seen or done the fitness test before?

I’ve heard a bit about the fitness test, I think it’s 40 m sprints in under 6.25 seconds, and 75m in 17 then a 22s walk 40 times…

Thank you for the advice!
