I haven't come off a game yet in the 3 1/2 years I've been officiating. Rang the ref sec of the Toolstation League on Monday to ask to be taken off a game on Boxing Day as my partners parents have asked us to come up north over Xmas (didn't think we would with covid and their health etc but now we can). Felt guilty about making that phone call. I just don't see how people can come off games the day before. Anyone who's ever run/managed anything wouldn't do it

I've just come off my game, the day before. I've had to do it twice before. Every time for the same reason. Back spasms
It is embarrassing, but I hope my refsecs appreciate that I never mess them about
