I know in the VAR age it’s pointless, but what a decision by Anthony Taylor to book Havertz for simulation. It looked to me like a penalty and from Taylor’s angle it was hard to see the dive but it’s a tremendous call.

More to the point, why do players dive in the VAR era though. There’s no contact at all, so he’s not even going to get a pen no matter what. Even if he fooled Taylor, VAR would have overruled him. Crazy thinking.

We posted simultaneously in different threads, just said exactly same thing. Utterly ridiculous even trying it!

The bad thing about Havertz on that play is that if he just keeps going without trying to dive, he has a good chance at goal.

Taylor's really been on this game. Shame for him that English teams are in the last four, as he would have been a great pick for the Champions League final. I guess that if it's Real-Villareal in the final that he could work it, but I would imagine at least one English team will make it through.
