Alireza had a good game.

Has been a bit handsy with players. Physically restraining and pushing them.

Also he has been animated with his hand signals. A lot of arm waving and doing the yap yap with his hands when players get mouthy with him. Bit different. Not a huge fan of that style.

The Ref Stop
I thought he let a lot go and took a risk, and that possibly led to some bad tempers. Two mass confrontations, albeit relatively mild, with no cards issued and that isn't usually what FIFA expect. Although granted its a final and referees are always a bit more lenient.

Going to be ramifications from what happened at the end, Luis Enrique certainly struck a Chelsea player in the face and he can't be allowed to get away with that. PSG came across as extremely bad losers.

It is definitely effective. Winds players up nonstop. Even physically (as seen with the shoulder check).

Then an instinctive retaliation by the opponents is to grab at someone. Then he absolutely sells it.

In terms of a red, I know the answer is yes. As for brutality it ticks the "deliberately violent criteria".

I think anyone watching this should question themselves

Same attitude prevalent when the World Cup, European Championship and European Cup began.
No England or English clubs even entered.

If they can keep this prize money this high it will gain traction . It will get moved to Winter to suit the Arab Emirates countries.

That said I didn't watch it 😀

Being the statto/info freak that I am 😂, I can't help but point out that in the 1955-56 European Cup, not only were teams invited rather than qualifying (only 7/16 actually won their leagues), Chelsea were forced to pull out by the Football League, so with that specific competition the attitude is slightly different.

My, intended, point was they were largely ignored by the public.

The FA made the decision not to enter all those competitions.

As an aside there was no qualifying for the first World Cup.

The European Club Competitions are also questionable on many levels

I was sceptical, but there have been some very entertaining games. Not a fan of the Disneyfication of it, including the 9 minute late kick off due to Michael Buffer doing his "let's get ready to rumble" announcement, 25 minute half time, and Trump stood in the middle of the photo as they lifted the cup, but sadly I suspect that's exactly what we'll see at next year's World Cup.

As people say, believe what Trump says, not what he does. It is common process that the club gets a replica and the sanctioning authority keep the original, although whether Infantino would have the balls to ask for it back from Trump is very debatable. If clubs kept the originals every trophy cabinet would be empty (I would have said it looked like Spurs's trophy cabinet but they ruined that 🤣)

It's a bit hypocritical when players and clubs are told to out with any political messages while the bosses don't give a rats arse about the political ramifications of their own actions and decisions.

My thoughts exactly. Nations and national associations have also been threatened with sanctions and expulsion if their government gets involved in football, yet the head of the organisation making those threats is planting the most well known politician in the middle of Chelsea's trophy ceremony. It is hypocrisy of the very highest order, who would have thought we'd have got rid of Blatter to end up with someone who somehow feels worse? Frying pan and fire springs to mind.

I’m all for transparency in governing bodies, but no one ever really needs to know the name of the dude at the top do they? Like, having the name to hand so readily as part of the culture as if he’s the superstar.

Genuinely not sure I could tell you who the current FA chairman is, and that’s how it should be. It’s utterly irrelevant unless I need to look it up. I’d be guessing at my parent county’s tbh. One of a few suits, but I’m lovely to everyone anyway (⌐■-■)

Just enjoy the freebies, but sit in your posh box and shut the **** up while the athletes do their job.

OK, but this isn't a question of the organising body keeping the original trophy (which as you say, is quite normal). This is a situation where someone who has no business doing so - who has no connection to the game of football or the competition (apart from happening to show up for the final) getting to keep the original trophy, for no better reason, as far as I can tell, than his liking for shiny, gold-coloured things.

According to Trump, Infantino has already told him they don't want the trophy back (and he apparently also took one of the winners' medals).

"We put it in the Oval Office and then I said: "When are you going to pick up the trophy", and [Infantino] said: "We’re never going to pick it up, you can have it forever in the Oval Office".

Donald Trump takes a Club World Cup winners' MEDAL - and he's keeping the trophy in the Oval Office
