That is completely different as there is no shot, and certainly no doubt that the ball was still in play. A clear penalty for me, but would need assessing if he had got a shot on goal away and then got taken out.

Are you saying a player taken out by this type of "tackle" should be awarded a penalty if it was a cross but if they have a shot - no penalty?

As I said in my earlier post, you have to assess it on merit. If they have got the shot away and the ball is out of play by the time they are fouled then clearly it can't be a penalty. In this particular case there is no chance of the ball going out of play so it is very, very different.
