However, if at the end of the half, the referee leaves the field of play to go to the referee review area (RRA) or to instruct the players to return to the field of play, this does not prevent a decision being changed for an incident which occurred before the end of the half.

The Laws say the R can change a decision until, among other things, leaving the field at half time. This primarily makes clear that going to do an OFR isn't "leaving the field" such that the R would no longer be able to change a decision. But it also means for those of us without VARs that if we realize we need to change a decision at half, we can leave the field to chase down the teams to come back without losing the ability to make a change.

So, for example, if you meet your AR at midfield as the teams are leaving, and the AR says "Didn't you see my flag for the PK just now?" You can still change the decision and bring the teams back for the PK, even if you have to leave the field to get them.

If this happens once in your career, it will be once more than most refs . . . .
