Nothing much to see here… though I was puzzled by the Casemiro sub.

Seconds into added time, Casemiro stays down, Japan have the ball, ref stops the match, ref asks Casemiro to leave the FoP, Casemiro can be seen saying ”no, I’ll stay on the field”, medical team comes on… then sub board goes up, Casemiro walks off the long way and Fabinho comes on as sub. Took two mins (that the ref did add on).

But should the sub have been allowed under the new laws - should they have been forced to wait? Seemed to make a nonsense of the new laws.

Yes, it is a loophole, a sub can be made immediately even if the player going off has received treatment. Same as with the 30 second "rule" PGMO used last season.

Missed second yellow first half, Japan defender SPA at junction of PA and goal line. Definite FT and would've been a gonna had the referee been granted permission to spoil the game

Was it SPA though, I'm not sure the attacker was getting the ball before it went out of play? Although given he didn't even give the free kick that is a moot point.
