It took me 2/3 replays to determine that he didn't get the ball. Commentators were unsure for a while. Not an easy decision to make in real time, he certainly thought about it.

Suspect AR 2 has called “played the ball” over the headset. He’s side on to it which would explain why Pawson rapidly changed his mind and carried on

Son's is a red card all day. If you caution that, you better be prepared to have it happen again later on.

Surprised it's controversial, in isolation that's an easy red. Maybe there's a reason he did it that sould have been caught, maybe the referee's missed other incidents early on...none of that changes the fact that this is an easy decision and he got it correct.

I can't fathom why playing the ball would save Dier. He's clattered through the back of a chap at speed. At the minimum reckless.
