Am I missing something here? I don't see how anyone could be sent off for leaving the pitch, wouldn't the only action be to caution for leaving the FOP without permission?

Agree Matthew. Yellow for leaving FOP. Whilst some may have sympathy with the Italian Ref Chief, he makes us all look like numpties when he gets the LOTG wrong!

I believe the chief is saying that the offense would not be "Leaving the Field of Play Without Permission" but, instead, it would be classified as some other, sending off, offense.
