Back after a year break

Censorship
Having taken a year out for a few reasons including losing love of reffing, I stepped back on the field for my first game today.

Unfit (I know i am, lack of exercise of any kind will do that), I spent the last few days/week walking out and about to try and get some sort of exercise in.
On to the game today, fair few stretches before game and we're ready.

Early exchanges, not much to shout about in terms of challenges or chances.
Midway through the away side take the lead. Game starts to have a few niggly fouls that in the opening half of 1st half I was playing advantage (as they retained possession unopposed and game didnt need stopping) for that i had to start blowing for game control. One player says to me that it was soft, my reply was "thanks for agreeing it was a foul then". He smirked and agreed and moved on.
Then a flash point.
Left back was always a little over zealous with challenges but never reckless, and some were actually good tackles but opponents disagreed. The flash point, midway in one half near touchline, caused approx 12-14 players to come in unnecessarily.
Cautioned two players, one from each side, as the main antagonist in the situation. Calls gor keeper to be cautioned as he ran from his area to join in. I pointed out that there were about 10 others that ran from various points on the pitch too to join in and could quite easily caution them all if I wanted to.
Accepted, moved on.
Minute later, that same keeper comes sliding out inside his area to claim the ball. Unfortunately the ball was missed, and he took out his opponent. Penalty and yellow card. Home side saying it should have been red (if not straight, then 2nd yellow for his involvement in the flash point). Disagreed with both (in my head) and moved on to taking of penalty.
Goal. 1-1.
Moving in to the 2nd half.
Early caution for home defender who commits foul outside the box, but a covering defender, in my opinion, stops it being DOGSO. No complaints by either side to be fair.
Few minutes later, a trip by away side just as right back plays ball forward which I try to see what happens as if he gets past the defender he is free on goal. Unfortunately he doesnt, so I blow and give free kick. But as I look back at the foul location, the tackler has used both hands in chest of opponent pushing him to the ground. Apparently something happened split second before that I didnt notice and also the one that was pushed wouldn't have gone down if he wasn't so lightweight. Said its irrelevant. Put hands up like that and you're asking for trouble.
Red card, off he goes. No real complaints either.
As the game went on, few niggly fouls again occurring some out of frustration more.
Then 2 quick goals to make scoreline 3-1. After the 1st of the two, keeper appeared to aim the ball in frustration towards the celebrating foursome missing everyone.
I called him and captain over and issued a "dont be stupid, you're on a yellow and already down to 10" speech.
If he argued with me or said something out of turn I may have sent him off for 2nd yellow. Final game of season, thought a telling off with captain was best. And it worked. He just sulked rest of the game in his area not muttering a word.

End of game, comments between some of the two players could've turned it worse, but thankfully nothing came of it.
Both teams came and thanked me and accepted every explanation that was given when asked politely and were prepared to listen and understand.

Actually enjoyed my first game back. Hope it continues.
