Penalty?? looked a pen in real time but I suspect a VAR would have ruled it out. Thoughts??

Never a penalty for me, defender got a good toe poke on the ball long before any contact with Ozil. Easy to say with replays, would be interesting if there was an angle from what Craig Pawson saw, seemed to be looking through a crowd.

IMO, Pawson was looking through a crowd and guessed based on player reaction and ball direction. Unfortunately for him, he guessed wrong ....

I thought it was a foul live. The problem with the ball poke is that it didn't change the direction of the ball, so if Pawson is behind the tackle, he probably thinks there was no touch and it's an easy PK decision.

Credit where credit is due, Paul Lambert was VERY dignified on MOTD when asked about it. Shrugged it off saying that if Pawson had had the benefit of TV he'd have not given the penalty.

No arguments with the second one however.

What annoyed me about this one was Danny Murphy and Chris Sutton giving it the 'Disgraceful, appalling decision' treatment on MOTD2.

The look on their faces was priceless when Manish (Presenter) pointed out that they both screamed 'Penalty' when they saw it live!
