A&H International send out a Laws of the Game quiz every Sunday via email.

One question got me stumped from this weeks quiz, am I missing something very obvious?

Q - During a free kick, the kicker lifts the ball by touching it with both feet simultaneously to pass it to a teammate. The teammate shoots and scores. What is the decision?

A - A. Goal is awarded
B. IDFK to defending team
C. Retake

I chose A - goal is awarded.

It says the correct answer is B.

Looking on IFAB, Law 13 states “A free kick can be taken by lifting the ball with a foot or both feet simultaneously.”

Where am I going wrong?

Thanks

Think they got confused with initiating a trick to pass the ball back to GK as referenced in 12.2 (I did the same in my head when reading the question!).

The answer is yes depending on circumstances. The question doesn't have enough information to give a definitive answer.

What I dont like is stating "under the laws of the game" without giving proper law reference. Reminds me of TV ads starting with "according to research".
Absolutely correct, although I do struggle to picture a scenario where the is time for a supporter to run on the pitch and get the final touch to a ball already on its way in, but no opponent has time to prevent the ball going in.

Not so hard. Supporters behind the goal. GK out to stop a break away. Ball chipped up over the GK.

Indeed, a million times more plausible than some of the scenarios that used to be in the magic book!

Or a counter-attack in added time, which the referee allows to continue with the goalkeeper stranded in the far penalty area with his team-mates . . . think I read something like that very recently 🤔😂
