I received confirmation of my promotion to 3W, which I'm over the moon with! Unfortunately, I'm unable to make the National League induction camp as I'm away for a wedding over the weekend. Does any material tend to be handed out at these events? I know some referees didn't get badges, so I've already emailed the appropriate contacts (advice from my RDO) to see if this can be avoided.
- Do you get free kit, or are you expected to buy a shirt with the FA badge? I've know some 4s and 3Ws got free kit in recent seasons, but I've heard conflicting things.
My main question is essentially what happens if you fail the fitness test? It looks like you get 2 attempts, but just a maximum of 1 per month.
- Do you therefore 'fail' the promotion and need to apply again in 26/27, or is it on 'hold' until you pass the test? I would have thought promotions were only confirmed after the fitness test was completed successfully. I am aware that you cannot officiate at the 3W level until you pass the fitness test, so I wasn't sure if this meant that you are still a 3W, or if you get put back down to 4W?
- Also, are fitness tests for 3Ws and 4s usually on the same day? I know dates haven't yet been confirmed, but I today found out that I'm the only person in my county to get promotion to 3W. I've heard how helpful it is to be running with a supportive group that you get on with, so would hope to not turn up to a test not knowing a single person. I know all the successful new level 4s, so would quite like to run it with them. I'm confident I'll pass, but I would quite like to know the implications of not doing so.
