The Ref Stop

3rd 6-5 assessment done

thats my third and should be final 6-5 assessment done this weekend, post match debrief was good, got me on fitness, which considering this was only my 7th game back after 6 months injured i knew was coming. Pitch was really soft and I felt really tentative pushing off on sprints in case I reinsured my ankle, but overall happy.

Having got 1 standard expected and 1 above standard, think I should be ok, unless the official report is very different to the post match!

Justy that'll definitely get you up, provided you meet the other criteria. I went up with 3 standard expected, although out of those games my first one had one team absolutely lose the plot with each other (and subsequently me which resulted in a below standard for match control... ), my second had 0 cautions (easiest game I've ever refereed) and my third barely had a foul...

You'll be fine.

PS: Anyone that is having observations in the near future - at some point one of them WILL go horrifically wrong. Use it to strengthen you, read the development points. It is your response to those setbacks that will impact on your career as a referee rather than what goes well.

Not that the PS reflects on you @Justylove :D:D

I remember on my first 7-6 assessment, both teams waked off the pitch with the attitude of "not your best game, Ref" and one of the managers turned round and told me i'd obviously screwed up my chances of promotion with that performance.

Got an "Above Standard" from the Assessor......

Look we are not all nasty, we can see things in referees the players cannot see ;)

Got it through this morning, Above Standard, so very happy. 2 out of the 3 have been Above Standard and 1 at Standard Expected so all in all as long as I get the remaining 6 middles in before end of Feb i should be there :)

Congrats. Should easily get the last remaining 6 games in. I've had 3 observations for my 7-6 without issue (2xAS and 1xSE) and need to get the last couple of games in which should be achieved before Christmas. Although do have a 4th observation lined up in a couple of weeks which I was surprised about. Not going to worry too much though.

When was it you applied to go for promotion 7-6?

I'm on the current promotion scheme that commenced in March.
So you actually applied in March of this year? I'm going to go for 7-6 next season, but just want clarifying when to apply. I think it's March 2018.

Yep - you will likely get a letter from your CFA to say if you want to apply please do so,.

You must have done 20 games in a previous period (Mar-Feb) to qualify.
My CFA asks for a deposit to be paid to secure your place - due to lots applying then not going to the workshops, doing the games etc.

Thanks, that's fair enough I don't blame them for asking for a deposit.

I cannot vouch for your CFA but we received an email early January informing us that if we wanted to apply for promotion to do so before end of February. Once you did that, and assuming the relevant criteria was met you were invited to a seminar at the beginning of March. It was made clear that if you didn't attend that you would be removed from the promotion scheme that season.

Thanks for the reply, gives me a clearer and better understanding of it. I need to pass my driving tests ASAP so I can go to my games myself without relying on my dad, or others!
