I am a year 12 student. Currently, I'm in the writing phase for my extended project qualification (EPQ) in which I aim to explore the use of Television Match Officials (TMOs) in rugby, evaluate whether it has proved successful and whether there is a need for technological assistance...
So the Australian A-League has been running VAR trials (basically, VAR in attendance, but only to report on what they 'would' have done - no actual interaction with the referee for the last few weeks.
First match with it is coming up on Friday, with only a few weeks to go before our finals...

I'm all for video ref. Wrong approach though, IMO. If you're going to use it when there's a penalty kick, goal or red card (ie a stoppage), then all you may achieve is turning a decision into a non-decision. Ie a penalty into a drop...
