Leaving the Vicinity after a red card - Team Official

Yes, I am comfortable with "the vicinity". Ultimately I do not want to see or hear them but your description does it for me. Where I am confused is what - in law - we do with a Team Official who has been sent off?

Leaving the Vicinity after a red card - Team Official

After a player is sent off, law 12 is clear that they are required to leave the vicinity. This requirement is not clear for a Team Official after they have been shown a red card. What should be done - dependent on the type of game - if a Team Official has been sent off?

    "Spastic"

A sending off offence, I agree. My only confusion is why as AR you could do nothing further? You could bring it to the attention of the Referee?

    Open Age Welsh FA Course

Hi Jake, I did mine nearly 3 years ago. It was very good e.g. sensible positioning at corners etc. DM me and I can get you contact. In South Wales, there is a practical on the 6th November.

    SFP vs Violent Conduct

Working on the assumption that this should have been a red card, I thought it would go down as Serious Foul Play but Mark Halsey has indicated Violent Conduct. Your thoughts on this incident and, more generally, any useful links to when something is SFP and when it is VC?

    First match advice

Best wishes to you and well done for taking up the whistle. For me: Read up on the laws e.g. download the IFAB app; Ask the League for a copy of their current handbook. Be sure on duration each half? Are rotating substitutions allowed? How many substitutions are allowed? Size ball...

    FAW Advanced Referee Course

Jake, I did the same course just over 12 months ago. You have passed the course so congratulations. I finished off with the practical at Penybont. A lot of it is guidance e.g. where is the best position for a referee when a corner is being taken. You will also be given guidance for logging...

    dissent by word or action

In the opinion of the referee? :) That is a fair point and added context. In Wales, we do not have Sin Bins (yet) and I had not given their role any consideration when I posted. For me, there have been games when waiting for the ball to go out of play and then issue a caution for dissent has...

    Intimidation

Out of interest, does your County FA not encourage you to abandon games when this happens?

    dissent by word or action

No, you have drawn a logical conclusion that does not exist. I do not deny the clarity of the laws on how to restart. That is a different point. There are times when play needs to be stopped and a caution issued immediately. But at other times, I have found the alternative method very effective.

    dissent by word or action

Personally, I would not have stopped play but would have cautioned the goalkeeper when the ball went out of play. This ensures that the law is followed but the innocent team not penalised.

    Pre season friendly

Above everything else, you have done nothing wrong. Secondly, if not already done, you need to report to your County FA that you abandoned a game. Keep your report factual stating why the game was abandoned.

    Dropped Ball

Many thanks for the prompt response. Sticking with the same numbering: 1. Thanks. I could not find the answer in the LOAF; 2. I cannot remember dropping the ball to the goalkeeper. In addition, I cannot find the answer in the LOAF.

    Dropped Ball

This is a very useful thread. I have two questions: 1. "all the other players (of both teams) must be at least 4m (4.5yds) away" - is that until the ball hits the floor or is touched by the player receiving the bounced ball? 2. When the ball is bounced to the keeper in his penalty area, my...

    New Referee Advice

Ok, but you have not confirmed whether my interpretation of what you meant by ATC is correct?
  16. L

    New Referee Advice

I concur with what you have said but I interpreted the ATC as: Ask for the name Tell them that they are being cautioned for dissent Card the player Personally, I do not like too many exchanges between referees and players unless necessary.

Well done for taking up the whistle. I have had spells as someone young and as someone older than yourself. Lots will give you advice. You will find what works for you as we are all different but my advice would be to be on top of the laws, referee as a referee and not a former player. Be...

    New Referee Advice

Be firm on dissent. You may end up with a game with a large amount of cautions but the alternative is worse. Referee in accordance with the laws of the game and do not start worrying about the consequences of players getting fines etc.
