Law 17: A corner kick is awarded when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line, on the ground or in the air, having last touched a player of the defending team and a goal is not scored
Had a similar situation last season. A clear yellow for dissent. Player refused to come to me. I called the captain who, to his credit, was trying to drag the player to me but being resisted. Second caution for delaying restart. I had the luxury of teamsheets and the captain helped me out...
Not sure I have seen all the defenders that far from the drop zone but using your example that would work even better. My AR flagging then running to the half way line should give it away!!
I totally accept that the official line says oherwise. I feel this is the best way to effectively communicate a decision that clearly hasn't been thought through for officials without comms sets! I feel confident enough that my assistants will manage but can you imagine trying to set this up...
I cover this in pre-match. I had one decision like that all season (2016-17). I ask my assistant to give me the flag on the halfway line. If the touch was in the attackers own half then an obvious step over the halfway line will alert me and I will then know what is going on.
I can't believe this has caused any controversy whatsoever. He jumps into a challenge at speed, with his foot raised at head height. Simplest red card.
Mike Jones at Swansea today, saw a similar challenge as a yellow however.
I think the focus in this thread is on "deliberate trick" rather that "to circumvent the laws...". No doubt that Luiz 'trick' was deliberate but having made it realised an opportunity (shout perhaps) to head to Courtois. His initial action was a defensive play to defeat the attacker not to...

If it is legal I tend to use it. That said, 10 rarely raises a complaint. At the lower and higher ends of the legal pressure, there is usually moaning. I get fed up of moaning quite quickly so it is often worth adjusting accordingly.
I don't think anyone would argue for style over substance but I do think that fresh, relatively new kit is useful.
As already stated, first impressions are important. If you turn up looking like a bag of sh*** then your task is immediately harder without even starting the game. Look like you...
