    That's my lot

Yes, that's something I am considering.

    That's my lot

After more than 10 years and 300+ games, yesterday was my last. A mixture of abuse, and no longer being a good enough referee prompted me to hang my whistle up. No going back, shirts and boots in the bin. The golf course now beckons.

    Manchester United vs Middlesbrough

Definitely accidental. I didn't realise the law had changed and 'leads to a goal' is no longer there.

    Reds versus Blues

Having seen the two incidents, there is no doubt that the referee got them both wrong. I don't understand why VAR did not review the penalty, and the referee has bottled the second yellow for Milner because of where he was. It's difficult, but referees are paid to make the tough decisions at...

    Southampton Penalty

Admittedly my mum's a Saints fan, but that's a clear foul by Walker, I would love to know why John Moss changed his mind.

    Referee retention idea

I think many referees of an age, like me have had a reboot. I've been involved in football as player/manager/referee for 55 years. I've always done it. The lockdown has given people the opportunity to question why we do it and for some the answer is not to do it any more. it's hard to see how...

    Referee Retention - Open Letter

In many ways, Nick Dunn's letter, who I know from my time in Kent, relates with the problem with no vestige of a solution. Clubs as a whole need to be sanctioned. Receiving verbal abuse on social media, suspend the club for a month from all forms of football. Three red cards for a team in a...

Player abusive to club linesman. What actions can you take?

I always tell the captains at coin toss that abuse to the club AR's is the same as abuse to me and will be treated as such.

    Referee Retention - Open Letter

I am a grassroots referee in Surrey and am in two minds as to whether to continue. I'm 62 now, and the pandemic and absence of football has somewhat weaned me off the game. I have many other pursuits that I could now follow at the weekend, and there is a danger that I am just refereeing because...

    Sin bin question

Yes, you are talking about the box in the right hand corner. Thanks. That's cleared it up. So you can caution someone as a YC for dissent same as USB in the example I used in the OP?

    Sin bin question

Two SB's = he can be substituted?

    Sin bin question

Yellow for what? Dissent? Surely another sin bin so he can be substituted??

    Sin bin question

So in summary, just 10 minutes wait until the sub can come on.
  16. HoofItYouDonkey

    Sin bin question

Yes, I agree. Does the sub come in after 10 mins (ie the bin time for each offence runs concurrently) or 20 mins (ie the bin time for each offence runs consecutively)

    Sin bin question

Sin bin a player for dissent, show him a YC and point to the side of the fop. He then shows you more dissent so you show him a second YC for dissent. Off he goes. He can't come back but a sub can (he had not previously been YC'ed). Can the sub come on after 10 or is it 20 minutes?? Ta

    Red or Yellow

Please settle an argument... Ball going in the goal, player uses his hand, ball stays in play and a goal is then scored from the rebound. Red or yellow for the defender?

    Training resource

Hi all, I have not refereed much in the last 18 months due to covid, etc, and would like to do an online refresher. Anyone recommend a food resource, preference for something online/interactive. Ta

    Posh v Lincoln

I can only assume the referee was unsightly. Easy to be critical, and yes, they are supposed to be at the top of their trade, but that's a shocker.
