    Timed it perfectly...

Think I would have to agree with this as well. From the way you described it the player made 5 careless fouls before seeing a yellow card. Agree with the warning after her 3rd but why not caution after her next foul? If I warn a player thats it.....they don't get two warnings. Although if...

    Helicopter on the pitch

Once had a Woman push a kid in a buggy right across the pitch mid game. Everyone stopped and was shouting 'what you doing, theres a game on here' to which as cool as you like she replied 'public park I always walk this way'.

    in the back

I had a game yesterday where shouts of 'hands on the back ref' 'push ref' literally from every throw/corner. Yes there were a lot of hands on the back but most of these were not fouls. A clear push, give a free kick. Just be consistent.

    Eh? The Things You Hear

A caution....... Clear red for me all day long. Any player regardless of age says that particularly the fact he repeated it is walking for OFFINABUS.

    Attitude.................

Surely you have adapted the LAWS of the game(We follow LAWS not rules). Not one referee will have the same adaptation of the laws as another. For example I might think something is dissent, you might not. However, I agree with your other point it does disappoint me to hear of referees not...

How To Avoid Being The Fly On The Wall?

But you said you would report if they didn't bring the money with the teamsheets. How can you do that if there is no league rule? Also I would not want that reputation. 'Awww heres this guy thats desperate for his cash'. Iv never had a problem getting cash after a game. If it means...

How To Avoid Being The Fly On The Wall?

Dont think you can say the whole of Scotland is like that my friend. I referee in Edinburgh and the league has no rules in which the fee must be presented before the KO with the team sheets. In fact I rarely get paid before the game. Must be your league rules that state fee must come with the...

Half match fee for weather call offs

Yeah im quite lucky the league im in up here. From U13-U19 its £36. Strange actually cos U13/4 is 70 mins, U15/6 is 80 mins and U17+ is 90 minutes.

    Roll on roll off subs

But you kept your match control tho ;) In all honesty I actually like rolling subs. The youth league I do has them from U13-U19 and its great. Not had any problems with players coming on to early or numerous late subs to waste time. One thing I do like about them is that if a player gets...

Nothing to see here. Move on

Yeah I have to agree. It seems like John has made a mistake(we all do) albeit a massive one. One post you are happy he is banned next thing you don't want him banned and put a lot of fancy words in your 'e-mail' that make it sound like you know what you are talking about. You are a referee...

Half match fee for weather call offs

Inspected an U13 game 90 minutes before kick off. Was no chance it was being played on. Half fee given no bother. Nice 18 pound to walk about a rock hard pitch for 5 minutes. Id be fuming if I had treked all the way there and got nothing. Always thought you got half fee so your not enticed to...

    never had that before

My league rules state I have to have 2 copies of the sheets in my hand before kick off. One for me and the other for the opposition. If they dont give me them we dont start.

Back to back to back games, any tips?

I tend do do 2 games pretty much back to back every Sunday. 3 games geeeezo. Normally a 70 minute game late morning. Then an 80 minute game early afternoon. Both kids of course. Normally have a light lunch in between and try not stay static for too long. Let us know how the 3 games works for ya?

    'Technical' and 'Dangerous' reds

Im sorry this is complete and utter nonsense. I had a game about 3 months ago now. U17s. Player was clean through on goal from a big lob by a defender, there are about 20-30 seconds left with the team who are through on goal 2-0 up. Last defender pulls back the striker on the edge of the...

    Why Am I seeing Ads?

Yeah up here in Scotland loads of teams wear black. Our colours are red, yellow and navy. Mostly wear yellow.

    What constitutes unplayable?

Is there pools of water? Does the ball still move through the water? Can you run through it no problem? Would ut be dangerous if someone was down in the water. Surface water on top of the pitch can be ok. Pools of it in squelchy areas is not.

    Mass confrontation (2)

I was actually at this game. Being a hibs fan it seemed that both cards were harsh. Think Thompson(no 38) challenge was reckless and late but did not think it was worthy of a red card.

    Watching other ref ignore OFFINABUS

Whilst it is clear the ref has let us all down as you say, there is nothing worse than another ref being critical of your performance.

    Bobble Hats

If you don't like the cold football is not the game for you. Protection normally means to protect you from harm. Cold is not really going to cause you any real harm, considering the players are actually warm during the game. Furthermore, I must point out it was you who said 'protection from...
