    Turkey v Northern Ireland

Must be, because otherwise that’s as clear a DOGSO by handling as I’ve seen in a while.

Referee X need to change his tag 😉 I lined with him before he was famous. 😆

    Your Card Stats

43 games 26 cautions 5 reds Breaks down as 2x OFFINABUS, 2 x double caution and a DOGSO-H The DOGSO Red was the only card in that game, and the only game to have 1 card. I’d have a cluster of games with multiple cards then a spell of games with none at all.

    Sunderland vs Chelsea

Think of it like it’s lunchtime. You’re in a chain sandwich shop. Collwill is the grab and go customer in front of you, whereas Fofana is the grab, put back, grab something else and put pack and then finally grabs something else and is your line of sight all the way. That’s the one that stands...

Opinion on Young Refs: too much coddling, not enough learning

Contrarian observation: This is one of the frequent criticisms of the FA CORE programme in England at least. Referees know the law and where to be and how to signal, but are critiqued as automatons, robotic and lacking “understanding” of the game. I’m not sure I recognise the “coddling”...

Opinion on Young Refs: too much coddling, not enough learning

Moderator note: The position set out in this post is provocative. Challenge it by all means, but be careful not to stray into personal attacks on the poster.

    CFA registration fees

A blanket increase, regardless of a freeze or not, without warning is unwelcome. I can’t defend it even if I like the idea of the additional funds being directed towards support. Given the money in the system I do feel that this is a bit of a grab, rather than a solution to a liquidity crisis...

    Celtic - Hearts

Seeing a lot of suggestions that time was or wasn’t up, or no final whistle etc. Remember the referee is the sole timekeeper, so as far as that is concerned, time was up. Whether anything is affected by the actions of the idiots who attacked players, is of course another matter.

    FA Cup Final

Think he’s been saved by the lower degree of force and minimal contact. Anything more than there was and that’s a trip to the screen.

City v Brentford. DOGSO and 2 reds?

If a penalty is given then yes red card. But is there a foul? I’ve seen several times and can’t decide. There’s an event of the boy who cried wolf for me here too, and it’s why I’m also totally disregarding Keith Andrew’s comments about “no reason to go down”. That’s totally disingenuous-...

    Fulham v Bournemouth

Not quite how I’m seeing it, but definitely think there’s an issue around serious foul play recognition. First one I needed a replay, second one is the sort of challenge we can’t yellow card at our level, let alone at elite level. I’m in disbelief that that was “played safe”. As for Marco...

Brentford vs Fulham - Hair Pulling

Posts have been deleted this weekend. Agree, disagree, counter argument all fine. Let’s leave the fan nonsense stuff out please. This includes referring to others pejoratively because you feel they don’t like your team. That stuff belongs elsewhere.

    Man City v Arsenal

How have you arrived at that? Two opposing forces, one removed, the other continues motion. In this case, both pushing forwards, Haaland steps away removing his resistance and there’s nothing to stop Gabriel moving forwards anymore. Simple physics.

    Man City v Arsenal

I’m on board with that having now seen it myself. On the original image I couldn’t see why it was only a caution. No mutual contact and he’s walking for certain - feigned butting or not. An argument is feasible that the forward motion comes as part do the “rutting stags” (beloved of tutors...

    Have you ever ...

A week early for a Cup Final last season. I’d hit bad traffic due to roadworks on the way down too so was running late for the agreed meet up time - or it would’ve been if I’d been 7 days later. For the actual game with the previous journey in mind I allowed extra travel time and sailed through...

    Ref across different FA/League

The other thing to note in that case is that County FA borders don’t always reflect the administrative counties, with some teams falling under a different FA. BBFA cups includes teams in Shrivenham for example and that’s in Oxfordshire!

    Ref across different FA/League

Presumably you’re on or close to the border anyway? It’s fine to do so. Up here in the northern reaches of BBFA we’ve got referees working the Bedfordshire leagues too so you wouldn’t be an outlier in that regard. Contacting the Hants league officer is the way to go to get them. The only...

    England v Uruguay

Am I serious? Yes. Did I immediately think red when I first saw it? No. And that’s the clincher - there’s still doubt for me and I have to be absolute to go red. Maybe my definition of high differs, or maybe I’m a little more detached emotionally from it. For me, ball, boot, and low...

    England v Uruguay

Was thinking similar myself. As for the Ugarte incident, don’t recall a caution other than for dissent? Even went through BBC text commentary and can’t find a mention of it either.
