    Cremonese v Como

This is good advice. I ran the line on an FA cup 3Q game last season. A player went down for a penalty shout and I said 'No' down the comms as the referee blew the whistle and gave the penalty. I then stepped on to the field too hastily, which invited players to come and protest at me, and...

    Ear moulds

I'm thinking the same way tbh. Need to get one sorted ASAP. I have had advice to do it and went to do it before, but I booked an appointment with specsavers for the mould and then when I turned up they told me I would need to book an appointment again... The advice I had previously was to ask...

Grassroots Corner Trick - 'Ball In Play' Shout To Referee - Y/N

My strongest view on it is that if I’m not told, it’s definitely not happening, as they can’t have the best of both worlds. I don’t disagree on your view. And I have only had someone do it once and that was years ago. I may have a different view on a step 3/4 game

Grassroots Corner Trick - 'Ball In Play' Shout To Referee - Y/N

No I agree with you on the closing point. I will always assume to start a match that the ball isn’t kicked, then if they tell me they’re doing that I will accept it, but any further occasions of similar, whether I’m told or not, will be treated as taken

    Seasonal 5-4

I'm on a little bit of a wind up, I think any observer fee increase is largely justified as I know the time it takes! (Or the time that most observers take)

Grassroots Corner Trick - 'Ball In Play' Shout To Referee - Y/N

The bit in bold is exactly why I think it's important that an official is told... If I know, then I can act accordingly.

    Seasonal 5-4

Another tenner? Strange, because they want to keep observers but you'll all be retiring early at this rate!

    VAR query

I'm gonna disagree 😆 the ball ended up back with the goalkeeper again after that initial possession before having to go all the way up field and go in the net. There's no way that can be part of the APP, so then it comes down to whether football wants every event since the ball last changed...

Grassroots Corner Trick - 'Ball In Play' Shout To Referee - Y/N

I don't disagree with the sentiment of not liking it. It also means that another player who came to take that ball has the option to grab it and reset it if the deception hasn't worked, unless the match officials are aware it was definitely taken.... but if I am told about it, I will allow it...

    VAR query

We have had one. I can't remember the game, but it was a back pass scenario which the same period of possession ultimately led to a goal. It was determined that the back pass was not part of the APP. It is ambiguous though. The APP is not clearly and objectively defined anywhere.

What happens if you go to university whilst on core

There is National FA CORE (seasonal program, selection for 26/27 already confirmed) and then most county FAs will have their own smaller version of the program, usually called county CORE but I would guess your county calls it MOAP. Depending how far away from home you're likely to be operating...

    MUN v NFO

Because the VAR can watch multiple angles multiple times. While of course the VAR will make errors of judgment on occasion, they shouldn't really ever make clear and obvious errors with the benefit of multiple watches and angles.

    CFA registration fees

I think you were basing it on observer fees tbh and not realising that us refs are only paid a small percentage of the money observers get!

    Seasonal 5-4

I understand. My son is autistic. But refereeing is subjective. Some things don't fit in boxes and factual scores aren't always the truest reflection. You could say the regional lead wields a lot of power and influence but a) it's only approx 8 people across the country at level 3 OR 4 (not...

    Seasonal 5-4

I think a few years back this was definitely the perception of it, whether it was the reality or not, but it's definitely been opened up now, which was down to the good work of Ed Duckworth and will be continued by Ollie Yates. Levels 7, 6 and 5 have to be nominated for a trial by their county...

    CFA registration fees

I have no issue with the price rise, as per previous posts, but it is worth knowing something I've just been made aware of. The £20 fee has always gone to the CFA, and will continue to do so. The extra £10 will go directly to The FA.

    Arsenal/Burnley

It does lack force but the point of contact combined with the fact it comes from behind so the player has no opportunity to prepare for that contact makes me arrive at red.

    Seasonal 5-4

It would be great to have a live overall merit table which has the correct formula in it on MOAS, but I don't think it's likely.

    MUN v NFO

I doing so, Webb has made me look like an idiot to my brother who said 'the premier league is corrupt' and 'its clearly handball' yesterday and I vehemently disagreed 😆 He's already phoned me!
