Any suggestions please regarding whistles that have distinctive tones. Will be part of a team of referees officiating at a multi pitch event with games going on at the same time on 3 separate pitches very close together. It would be great if we could identify whistles that are distinctive for...
Well having watched a number of games on TV this weekend it’s clear that the threshold for what constitutes a careless challenge has been raised this season. This challenge was the same as a multitude of others that went unpunished across any number of matches. So although my personal first...
As the ball was still moving could the referee have managed differently? The Brighton player deliberately looking to get Rice booked. Both just needed a talking too in my view and get on with the game.
Well I’m absolutely amazed that anyone could consider anything other than a red card for the assault on the Bournemouth goalkeeper. It’s a red card all day long and can easily be made to fit either SFP or VC in my opinion. Sometimes it is just easier to say “Yup got that one wrong” than try and...
It’s a game of differing levels. Devised originally to provide exercise for the over 50s in or around 2012. Since then grown massively, played in all county areas with around 30 FA county leagues. Age categories are predominantly over 40 and over 50 for Women and then mixed at over 50,60,65 and...
This Friday sees delivery of the first of 6 pilot courses for the brand new FA WF course. The course will be delivered initially in Derby, Newton Abbott, Manchester, Essex, Southampton and Sunderland before being rolled out by County FAs to meet demand from September this year. The course will...
Does the challenge by the gk reach this threshold ? Careless” means that the player has shown a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or that he acted without precaution. I would say so and did it occur in the penalty area, yes again so I feel it is the correct call and it’s...
Well the referee in charge of the game thought so, as did the referee in VAR duty (or at least that it wasn’t a clear and obvious error) and this referee also thought it was.
Explore the opportunities within walking football, which is in need of experienced referees coming over from the regular game. The game is not the pedestrian affair seen on old adverts but a very competitive version of football.
Thanks , that was my thinking using a dictionary definition. So in my humble opinion that goal should have stood as the player picking themselves up didn’t compete or challenge for the ball.
So what constitutes a challenge? Surely in this incident the goalkeeper who is in possession of the ball runs into the opponent and causes the loss of possession? The opponent has not in anyway ‘challenged’ the gk. They were just picking themselves up unaware of what was occurring?
The FA have released an amended version of the laws for Walking Football and these have been circulated to all county FAs. Soon to follow will be FA training materials that will enable WF referees to become qualified. It is hoped that this provision will see more referees see WF as another...
