    Deliberate kick to the GK

Apologies for what appears to be a simple question, but I gave an indirect free kick for the scenario below over the weekend, and the manager of the defending team disagreed with my decision. Nothing new there, but it got me questioning myself! Defender took a goal kick to the goalkeeper who...

    Correct decision...?

I think that this is a very straightforward question, but I can't quite get my head around the correct answer... In my match at the weekend, blues had an attacking free kick just outside the penalty area. Ceremonial FK, walked wall back and told them to be careful about raising their arms...

    Bayern Munich v Atletico Madrid

Agree with the comments about some of the gamemanship, mainly by Athletico, but I did feel a bit sorry for them with regards to the multi ball system being used. Usually when the ball goes out of play, you do get a few seconds to recover and get back into shape, but with another ball arriving...

    Appointments App?

I agree that this would be a great idea. At the moment, I'm not able to register with a league as a referee, as I also play (on Saturdays) and coach (on Sundays). However, when we don't have a match, I'm always keen to referee but don't know how to go about getting a match. Maybe the app...

    Just checking...

OK - hands up... hadn't seen those previous threads, but clearly this has suddenly become prevalent in the last week!! Thanks for reply Richard...

    Just checking...

Thanks for your useful reply Russell. I did search for previous posts about my specific query, but could not find an answer... only comments about circumventing back pass laws... please do enlighten me!

    Just checking...

I'm fairly sure that I know the answer to this, but always good to check for sure :) Defender takes a goal kick short to the goalkeeper, who has gone out of the penalty area in order to receive it. If the GK then takes the ball back into the area and picks it up, that's a backpass - right...

When is a backpass not a backpass?

I don't think this would be correct. The centre half is just heading the ball back to his own keeper, no trickery, not deliberately circumventing the law?

Best complaints you've ever recieved from an aggrieved team...

I don't want to derail this amusing thread, but 'just like referees', there are good coaches / managers and there are poor ones. Managers for all Chartered Standard Clubs have to have at least their FA Level 1 coaching badge, which does give them some competency to coach the children...

    Law questions from yesterday's match

Thanks all for your replies... and interesting to see that the handball one has ignited some debate. I guess my opinion was based on fairness. The player did deliberately handle the ball, by putting his arms in the path of the ball, but if he hadn't done that, the ball would have hit him in...

    Law questions from yesterday's match

2 situations arose from my Under 16s match yesterday, which I was unhappy that I was not sure what I should do. Player handled the ball by putting both arms in front of his face. I did not give a free kick, despite shouts of 'handball' - and I called that he was protecting his face. However...

    Team In All Black

From a slightly different perspective... a team I used to play for bought a red / black striped kit online, with black shorts and socks. When it arrived, the back of the shirts was completely black (except for the white numbers). The back of the shirts were not shown in any of the online...

    Safeguarding Children

Alex - You make a good point, re 'children aged 16-17 who could be playing in 'adult' (open age) football... However we were told at Surrey FA course that only referees who were intending to referee youth football needed to be CRC checked... Q. Do I need a CRC to register as a referee? A...

    Safeguarding Children

No - it's not required if you will only referee adult matches...
