    Stranraer v East Fife

Interestingly I was AR for that referee earlier this season in a lower level game and he mentioned then that the SPFL have said officials are only to wear one of the three current kits (black, yellow or red) in SPFL games. So whilst the red isn’t ideal against the East Fife kit, there’s not much...

Refereeing as a 16 year old.

Where about in Scotland are you based?

St Johnstone v Motherwell - rejected VAR review

Welcome to Scottish football :) Joking aside though it’s good to see our officials stick to their guns after they’ve been sent over for a questionable review

    Bel v Svk

Two players jostling for the ball in my view. You can't do that and keep your hands by your side, so it's a natural position for the action being carried out and therefore no handball for me.

    Surely OFFINABUS + more

Slightly playing devils advocate here but if he's taking no disciplinary is this almost better than cautioning or warning? It's undoubtedly OFFINABUS but if he's not heard it he can't do anything - whereas cautioning or talking to the player shows that you heard it but somehow don't deem it...

    Wolves vs Bournemouth

Saw a clip of the disallowed goal on Twitter earlier. It must have taken me at least a dozen watches of it to see the supposed foul - it's never a foul for me.

    Dundee v Rangers Off

It’s only 90 minutes or so from Glasgow (where he lives) to Dundee so Don Robertson probably just came from home today. It was inspected at 9.15am as well by a local referee but I’m not really sure what the point/outcome of that was because everyone seemed to agree to leave it to the match ref...

    Carlos Corberan Sending Off

Derek McInnes, Kilmarnock manager, got sent off for the same in a Dundee v Kilmarnock game earlier this season. So whilst it’s undoubtedly rare it does still happen from time to time.

    Rangers v Aberdeen VAR intervention

Red card was appealed yesterday but the appeal was rejected

    Newcastle v Man City

Reminds me of this situation which led to the pundits bemoaning an assistant NOT delaying a flag. Basically we’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t. https://x.com/skysportspl/status/1566145193061097476?s=46&t=lUOYv0Z9NlaiSQIYFydEzg

    How was this restarted ?

Surely that advantage still exists if the goalkeeper saves the penalty though?

    Wolves vs Newcastle

I don't know if this is true but I did read it will be his first Championship game since 2019. So whilst I do agree that it's a bit of a non-story as they all do games outwith the EPL at some point, I don't think it's entirely a coincidence that he's doing one this weekend (as @Runner-Ref says).

    Spain Vs Scotland

Surely that's not the 4th official down the bottom of that image?

    Spain Vs Scotland

Whoever the Spanish pundit was on Viaplay did mention that the referee did stick his hand up in the air (ie IDFK) but you had to be in the ground to see it as no TV cameras showed it. So it may well have just been a screw up with the referee’s initial signal, which whilst poor is understandable...

    TOT v LIV

Not saying it's right or wrong but up here John Beaton refereed Livingston v Celtic less than 48hrs after refereeing a Europa League game in Azerbaijan

    BACS Bank Payments

Interestingly I find the teams who tell me “it’ll be paid tonight” are usually the slowest and have to be chased up for it a few days later

    Rangers v Celtic

I'll try and find a screenshot of it but I was equally as baffled by Bobby Madden's justification for it on his Instagram - something to do with because the Rangers forward stuck his foot in but didn't touch the ball resulting in it being a foul

Another FA Referee question with a questionable answer

Am I missing something? Correct option seems to be B as I read it.

    End of season review

Total of 41 middles with 28 yellows and 5 reds by my count Also done 27 lines this season though which is where I feel I've had the most improvement as I'd only done about half a dozen in the 3 seasons before then

    Scotland v Georgia

He was obviously under huge pressure to get the game on initially, because of the logistics of having to reschedule. No doubt if that was a Queen's Park league game there next season then it would've been off. Within about a minute of kick off you could see how farcical the conditions were...
