    The 2026 World Cup thread

In one sense I agree with you in that there was an attempt to trip by the USA Captain, either intentionally or unintentionally. However, given that there was a second or two delay before the theatrical dive by the Paraguay player to win a free kick/deceive the Referee, I would argue that the...

    The 2026 World Cup thread

I think it has to be right as far as a tournament is concerned. Specifically, whereas in the PL/EFL I think it may be 5 yellows to a player for cumulation to warrant a further suspension, in the initial round of WC, there is I think only 2 yellow cards, so the USA Captain could have been given a...

    The 2026 World Cup thread

I think that is exactly how the public will perceive it and will probably also think this is the type of incident that should be reviewed by VAR - blatant simulation leading to an incorrect caution to an opponent (who also happened to be in the Home USA team). Although as you intimated it’s...

THE FA NO LONGER PROVIDING FREE KIT FOR LEVEL 2, 3 OR 4s

Though NE32 has posted a link in threads above of kits supplied by A&H with a badge included. However, I can understand your disappointment.

    CFA registration fees

I understand the FA significantly overspent their Referees development/training budget in 2024/25 &/or the year before.

    CFA registration fees

It looks like the increase is not only registration fees but now newly promoted Referees having to pay for their kit to help finance the introduction of an online learning platform, increased face-to-face CPD opportunities, and for the first time a summer roadshow programme, offering practical...

THE FA NO LONGER PROVIDING FREE KIT FOR LEVEL 2, 3 OR 4s

I do too with kit, but it is what it is. As to your concern, if we don’t trust the process then there is no hope for development/what the FA are attempting to achieve which is to improve the standard of Refereeing at the top of the ladder eg EFL/Premier League. There is no evidence that I can...

THE FA NO LONGER PROVIDING FREE KIT FOR LEVEL 2, 3 OR 4s

£200,000 is a lot of money, though disappointing for all those concerned who now have to buy their own kit. The FA are already looking to recruit many more Match Day Coaches for L2-6 which will assist with their costings (rightly or wrongly).

    Registration 2026/27

Many from L4 may well argue that they do not receive payment beyond travel and other approved out of pocket expenses eg kit, coats, tracksuits etc. If this wasn’t the case, are they declaring income for tax purposes. At the time of me completing the DBS form via the FA’s third party provider, I...

    Registration 2026/27

I suspect this is going to be confusing for many - be it a Referee or Observer & some may not want to proceed if they tick Referee/Observer - paid & the impact that may have (give up their role).

    Registration 2026/27

Oh I see - I could have been the same - System said Observer paid or Observer unpaid. On one hand I am Observer paid because I do get paid by the FA - but are really only expenses (travelling mileage etc) or Observer - Unpaid, which I nearly ticked cos only paid a one off fee without mileage...

    Registration 2026/27

That’s a significant difference between the two. I was offered no different options, but I’m just wondering whether there is a difference in type of DBS we both have. On Gov UK site: Basic DBS: £21.50 (shows unspent convictions) Standard DBS: £21.50 (shows spent and unspent convictions...

    Registration 2026/27

Does seem strange/frustrating that the registration number isn’t held in a central place on the system (unless I just haven’t come across it). Perhaps on the plus side, I had to update my DBS (due to expire end of July) and the process was overall painless apart from the cost of just over £60...

    Registration 2026/27

Overall, it only took me a moment nite or so to Re-register yesterday & I am aware that many from my location found the same, though some did forget to note down their registration number when it came up as a prompt.

    Arsenal vs PSG

Perhaps & that’s one way of looking at it, though the best way to look at it, since it actually happened, is that the Referee didn’t award a penalty and it wasn’t overturned. Some may say there is no right or wrong whichever way it went, but the outcome was more right than wrong in more ways...
