    A red card ?

Hello @Rory congrats on your first 2 games. Regarding the control element, don't worry about it. Every ref has gotten to points where they have practically lost control, especially in the early days. More than likely you didn't lose control, but you just didn't give the impression you were fully...

    First middle with assistants

@ChasObserverRefDeveloper I appreciate that, I opened the app in the dressing room prior and gave my brief as you recommended @socal lurker i have learnt the importance of that eye contact, and also slowing down. No need to rush is one of the biggest things I learned, slow it down, look at the...

    Shameful FIFA

I see SA have said "90.6% of decisions made were errors" .. did FIFA decide on every call and furnish SA with their findings!? SA players in an interview claiming "the game appeared to be rehearsed between the players and the referees, even the ball boys looked involved" Utterly laughable.

    First middle with assistants

Well guys, doing my first game today with assistants. Any last minute pointers? 😁

    South Africa - potential replay

In all seriousness, if that was genuinely a statement from the SA FA then they've lost credibility rather than enhanced it. Don't see FIFA taking such a complaint seriously if even we can't

    South Africa - potential replay

    That's a 'major' incident every 87 seconds 🤪

    F*ck off

Everyone has a right to their opinion, disagreement on topics is often what makes the game beautiful, as the foreword in the LOTG says (or words to that effect)

    South Africa - potential replay

Sounds like a referee who felt he should have awarded the first penalty call and regretted not giving it. This may have had an effect on his thinking and he felt he had to make up for it.

    YCs for Handballs

I prefer to keep it simple: Was the ball 'obviously' going into the goal without the handball? -> red Was there a promising attack stopped by a handball? -> yellow Anywhere else on the field or an attacker scored immediately after it touched their hand? -> penalise, no sanction, move on...

    F*ck off

We all are. As my mentor always tells me, if you aren't making mistakes then you aren't learning ;)

    F*ck off

I'm not so sure it's altering the law as much as it is adjusting your threshold and interpretation of the LOTG based on the game at hand. Our on pitch expectations should not be a million miles away from the player's expectations. When they are is when trouble can start. I learned this the hard...

    F*ck off

The warning serves many purposes. One of them is it gives you the license to go red the next time he does it. "You were warned." Easiest decision you can sell.

    F*ck off

Edit to add regarding OA: If a player says it to another, I'm not getting involved unless I feel something has the potential to tip over. Adults say this to each other on the pitch. At my OA games you'd be at 7 v 7 if you went red for this every occasion. You are drawing all the attention onto...

    F*ck off

If it wasn't aimed at an individual, then no you weren't wrong. Now it may be offensive to listen to, especially at U13. I'd have a talking to the player, tell him he's older and carries responsibility now. Try big him up a bit and make it out to be a shame for him because it's his job not to do...

    F*ck off

In law this referee was correct. What you might be able to do is ask could he manage it? That's each referee's personal prerogative. I've had a similar situation. I aim to do as follows: If I've heard and I know the player knows I have heard it -> they are off If I've heard it but it's...

This bit is very true, goes for any field in life really

    Shameful FIFA

It no doubt has a contribution to societal behaviour as a whole. Just look at the woeful haircuts we now have to witness on the streets. Regarding the thuggish side of things, players seem to be able to get away with whatever they want to on the field, from physical assault to verbal harassment...

A decision to make .. some advice please

@RustyRef I thought it was level 7, then 6, 5 .. 1, then SG2, SG1, PGMOL - I notice you say it is 'only' 8 promotions to PL. I thought only PGMOL refs did PL games?. Anyhow, as expected, starting over again and reaching top flight in England to do the FIFA badge would be like trying to climb...

Advice on handling interactions with players

It does but it's on the back, funny enough no one actually looks there because all they need to fill in is on the front :D I'd agree hence why I gave it when asked, this guy had his less than innocent reasons for asking though

A decision to make .. some advice please

Well I have always had an ambition of refereeing European football. The likelihood of getting into the Irish top division and nominated for it just seems to be a lot more likely than getting into the PGMOL and then being nominated for it
