    Euros

In my head, that would just be a trip, usually for SPA which is a yellow anyway. I can’t think of a situation where there’s a careless trip with no attempt to play the ball that isn’t stopping a promising attack if that makes sense

    Euros

For me, that was a yellow card, but I would like them to be red cards. I've said it before on here - I would like the law to say something like 'if a player makes a deliberate, reckless challenge with no attempt to play the ball, it should be a red card'. To me, it looked a red from first...

    Ampadu Red Card

When I first saw it, I thought yellow. After watching the replay, I do think the force is excessive. It’s low, but I think the level of force is what swayed me from yellow to red

    Offside

For offsides, I usually always go with my CAR’s decision, unless they flag incorrectly like your situation. I think for typical offsides (through ball to striker who’s now 1 on 1), I think it’s almost impossible to be able to say the CAR is wrong, as they (usually...) are in the best position to...

    19 Years Old - Tall & Skinny

There’s actually a LOT of high protein meat alternatives now. I don’t lift weights but I tend to take a protein shake or eat a lot of protein after a hiit session or indoor bike ride. There’s so many meat alternatives now that have loads of protein. Usually pea, but it varies. It’s definitely...

Might be refereeing u14s this weekend

Sounds good. From my experience as well as yours, it looks like there are some wild challenges at that age

Might be refereeing u14s this weekend

What was the red for out of interest?

Might be refereeing u14s this weekend

I’ve primarily done adults games this season as well as some U14-18s. I find U15s and above, cards are fully expected. My last U14s game was tough. A semi final with some bad fouls. I had the card out at 66’ for SPA - that was completely expected as he tripped him on the break with no attempt to...

    Larne vs Crusaders

Incredible, it isn’t even really close, it’s a proper jump! They’ve got quite a lot backlash on Twitter for taking legal action

    Ref Six - Watch

Yeah exactly. With goals I just use the watch, but I don’t want technology to fail for misconduct. But I like inputting the cards on there as it shows the exact time, position on the pitch, stats, etc

    Ref Six - Watch

I never bother with teamsheets on the app. I just use the numbers on the app and use my notepad for the names. Cross reference everything from my watch to my notepad to the teamsheets to make sure I haven’t made a mistake

    Ref Six - Watch

I use the pro version on my Apple Watch. I’ve loved it - got so much use out of the watch too, it’s definitely worth the money imo. I still use a notepad (especially for cautions/misconduct), just in case something goes wrong, but it’s still very reliable. The stats are really beneficial too

    Promotion News

In our county, we’ve been given more info and have been able to apply. I think the email with everything came through in our monthly bulletin last weekend

    Refereeing u11 academy game

In my experience, cards are discouraged, but generally accepted. I’m aware they don’t like seeing them but I’ve never had any complaints when I’ve used them. For u11, I’d be incredibly surprised if you needed cards at an academy game unless it’s a unique incident. My academy games with the...

Junior/Youth "You must've taken a big bribe, ref"

Just referee like normal. Where I am, cards aren't that common and it's kind of like a thing where refs just try to manage things as much as they can. I try and keep my cards in my pocket, but when I do issue them, it's generally accepted. From my experience, they would rather you speak to them...

Is it time these are red cards?

    Yeah that’s a good point

    1st game in 8 months

Similar to you - I had a friendly last year arranged by the home side. I contacted the away manager and soon realised it was our new opposite neighbour who moved in about a month ago!

Is it time these are red cards?

I don’t mean a red card for all SPA offences - just the SPA offences that can be considered reckless. A sin bin for SPA would be really interesting, although I wonder if that’ll lead to a higher tolerance of what is considered a promising attack

Is it time these are red cards?

I played for 10 years and I understand ‘tactical fouling’ is part of the game. However, in my opinion, if a foul is reckless and there is no attempt to play the ball, it should be a red card. Obviously small trips, pulls, general careless fouls while a player is away should just be a yellow as...
