Was it SPA though, I'm not sure the attacker was getting the ball before it went out of play? Although given he didn't even give the free kick that is a moot point.

    Panama Vs England

Isn't just the US, I was on holiday last week so watched most of the games on BeIN Sports and they broke to adverts. I'm actually amazed ITV haven't, some advertising executive has probably already received his P45.

Yes, it is a loophole, a sub can be made immediately even if the player going off has received treatment. Same as with the 30 second "rule" PGMO used last season.

    Panama Vs England

It was a FIFA decision, but do you really don't think they were leaned on by someone? From what understand FIFA aren't making any money out of the breaks, but some companies certainly will be which makes me suggest an element of lobbying went on. The problem is with them being 3 minutes, which...

    Ecuador v Germany

Poor law wording again, I just do t see how something that is subjective can be a clear and obvious error. VAR was brought in to remove absolute howlers from the game, if something is subjective it doesn’t fall into that category in my opinion.

    England v Ghana

LOL, I was still in short trousers at primary school in 1982 so definitely don’t remember it. Heard it discussed on talkSPORT earlier in relation to the game last night. Hawksbee and Jacob’s show so they were definitely both old enough to remember it.

Penalty shootout coin toss proposed change

Everything in football at the moment is about squeezing out as much competitive advantage as you can, can’t see why they wouldn’t do it.

    Canada vs Qatar

The outcome is taken into effect in pretty much all walks of life of life. If you hit and kill someone driving at 28 mph in a 30 zone you will probably face no further action, hit them at 32mph and you are facing prosecution and probably jail time. If that person you hit just has a few bruises...

    England v Ghana

This has been a problem for ever even before it was 48 teams. Classic being 1982 when both Germany and Austria knew that a 1-0 German win would guarantee both teams progressed. Germany scored after 10 minutes and then neither team played football, it became known as the disgrace of Dijon and the...

    Ecuador v Germany

Surely VAR should be staying out of subjective decisions? Subjective is the polar opposite to clear and obvious, VAR should be going nowhere near subjective decisions. Although I don’t actually think this was a subjective decision.

Penalty shootout coin toss proposed change

The point is it is more important now. Previously they had that 50/50 chance and it didn’t affect their chance of taking the first penalty. Now it does, and effectively to get “supporter advantage” they have to give up that first kick. If I was an owner I would be 100% relocating the away...

    Canada vs Qatar

Kind of agree, but the law wording doesn’t help. If you commit a foul, and the referee penalises it, that breaks an opponents leg how can it possibly be argued that you didn’t endanger their safety? It is black and white, you broke his leg in two places with a foul challenge, you didn’t mean to...

    Canada vs Qatar

That’s a ludicrous decision. And further backs up my view that FIFA should not be able to make law changes mid-tournament. They overreact to incidents on a ridiculous level, this will have come from a combination of Infantino, Wenger and Collina. If it was Messi, Ronaldo, Kane, Vini Jr, etc...

Penalty shootout coin toss proposed change

Not suggesting it should prevent the law change, rather it might result in some clubs moving away supporters. Currently teams have a 50/50 chance of the kicks being taken in front of their own supporters, with the new law they will potentially have to give up the undoubted benefit of taking the...

Penalty shootout coin toss proposed change

I know there are rules in the Premier League about where away fans have to be placed. They definitely need to be pitchside, but even that has exemptions as neither Sunderland or Newcastle have away fans anywhere even vaguely close to the pitch. Pretty sure both have argued that relocating them...

Penalty shootout coin toss proposed change

It’s a perceived win as one team usually benefits from the first coin toss. Less so at the World Cup though as there are so many neutral supporters. The cynic in me thinks if this becomes part of law clubs will relocate the away fans so they aren’t behind a goal, that way the penalties will...

Maybe, but they shouldn’t be trying to shoehorn it in whilst the tournament is ongoing.

    All this counting

We often criticise law changes, but the keeper 8 second and the new changes this season seem to be really enhancing the game as a spectacle. Restarts are now so much faster, the change it has made to the amount of time the ball in play is going to be interesting to see. I would guess it will be...

    Don't talk, card.

I always say that I will explain any decision but I’m not having a discussion over it. We might have to agree to disagree but I’ll give them the courtesy of explaining my rationale as long as they are courteous and respectful towards me. I’m not going over to the benches to have those...
