100% incorrect. There are no special considerations fitness wise. I attended a session hosted by Simon Breivik, Sport Scientist of the PGMOL group - all referees must pass regular fitness tests. Such a test includes getting 18.2 in the Yo-Yo test. Of the 40 referees that attempted it in this...

Is a division officer the same as a referee appointments secretary?

    Caution before kick off

I really want that to happen next season so I can whack out that line 'shower's not far'

    Junior/Youth U18 Cup Final

Russel, I can see where you've come from man management wise, and you have gotten away with it. BUT, IMO - I would be cautioning here. Who gives a damn it's a cup final. In fact, as it's a final, there should be a good crowd there. This big crowd has just seen this player quite clearly...

Groin Strain - Level 4 Fitness Test

Very annoying indeed Paul - had lots coming up pre-season wise. But as you say, rest is the only cure. Better to have this injury now (bar the fitness test prep and and my plans!) instead of the middle of the season really.

Groin Strain - Level 4 Fitness Test

Gents, many thanks for all the advice. I will contact my RDM and The FA tomorrow.

Groin Strain - Level 4 Fitness Test

Gents, Doctors have recently told me I've got a groin strain, which is rubbish considering the timing. His recommendation is just rest and anti-inflammatory meds. The level 4 fitness test is under 3 weeks away, and I'll have to do some training, but obviously I need to rest. So slightly...

What do we think of this guy?

I had to stop watching. The spectators ignorance, as well as that absolute *$&@ of a manager who comes running on the pitch to berate the referee just angered me so much.

    Advantage Over ..?

Has one adopted an aggressive attitude? Yes. I don't understand all your abbreviations, but the point still stands. He has adopted an aggressive attitude. I am cautioning for that.

    Advantage Over ..?

A push is not careless. It is adopting an aggressive attitude. Caution.

    Advantage Over ..?

I am sure you have all seen the traffic light system for advantage, red in the defensive, amber in the middle, and green in the attacking. Alex has clearly shown a reason as to why you never play advantage in the defensive area (except in extreme circumstances - e.g. the WHOLE team has gone up...

Considering starting to referee Womens Open Age matches .. any views?

I tried womens football, definitely not for me. There are two types of players (at proper grassroots). 1) The really kind woman, who will accidentally budge into another player, stop, say sorry repeatedly and continue. 2) The really sneaky, aggressive player, who will pull hair, scratch and all...

    Milner breaks flag

Didn't see it. Yep - I would be cautioning for that. Could also sell it as adopting an aggressive attitude,

Nightmare Incident... Gives me the Campus Cup Final nod!

EXACTLY! ALL OF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. You've got on top of the tackle, quickly, which was good. Then you have to take control of the situation. You did a Premier League Type caution, which we advise not to do at grassroots. Get to the incident and tell the tackler to move away. He is...

Nightmare Incident... Gives me the Campus Cup Final nod!

Personally, I refuse and ignore them, but every referee is different. It is a pathetic attempt at trying to gain power and belittle you- a threat with no substance.

Nightmare Incident... Gives me the Campus Cup Final nod!

    1) Good to get on top of it stamp your authority, but instead of issuing the card, isolate him away immediately to diffuse the situation and then caution. You say he looked over your shoulder to the player - if you had isolated him away, so that YOU had ALL players in view - he would of had his...
