    Palace v Spurs

The OP has misheard Shearer. He was actually advocating a second yellow for the Spurs player for his part in the afters. And I would agree. It is very unfair for both teams to come out of that with a yc each. But I would go further. The assault by the Spurs player in the first place saw him...

    Wolves v MU

Absolute stonewall red card and a penalty for the disgraceful late challenge. Mike Dean and VAR missing the big decisions when it matters.

Let it flow, but blow for everything...

I treat friendlies as I would a competitive match these days. I tried managing with no cards but what I've noticed is the idiots will still be idiots, only more so if you don't card them. The thing that tipped it over the edge for me was a coach who argued over my lenient suggestion that he...

    Crystal Palace u18s v Aston Villa u18

Yesterday in Premier League South, so the pinnacle of our academy structure. In open play, the ref stepped sideways to get out of the way of a pass. In doing so, a player couldn't get round the ref to get the ball. The ref stopped the game. He restarted it with a contested drop ball (not seen...

    McTominay on Son

I'm a neutral and I disagree with both of you. What's worrying is if we, as a refereeing forum can't get agreement, what hope is there of getting other decisions correct? 1 out of 3 refs would have given the goal. It's always interesting that when my local RA has the 'what would you do...

    Ipswich v Northampton

That is appalling by the ref. Maybe Judge said something but that's not the way to react. And I'd have given a pen.

Change of Goalkeepers at half time – u14 match

I knew a change was happening because I’d noticed him warming up both before the game and at half time. When the sides trooped in a slovenly fashion back onto the pitch for the second half, I noticed the change of goalkeeper. I didn’t confirm with the coach, and the coach didn’t ask for...

    Belgium v England

England kicked the ball and db kicked him. Free kick to England if anything.

It was nice while it lasted...

With the u-turn on pubs being allowed to sell takeaway beer during lockdown, I live in hope of a u-turn re youth grassroots football.

Christchurch vs Lymington Town - Wessex League

My immediate reaction was a red and I fail to see the justification in those who say yellow. However, I had a one bad tackle in the game last weekend and it was a lunging straight leg studs showing attempt to get the ball but woefully mistimed. In fact it was the OP challenge, albeit the...

    New v Bri

Are we all agreed that round kick was indeed dangerous? Don't know why Friend initially only thought yellow. Pleased for VAR.

    MU - CP

You clearly haven't read the OP properly then. I trust you use more attention to detail when you're reffing.

    MU - CP

You're sounding like a bunch of bitter Man u fanboys. Have a think about what you're saying here and take a deep breath. Pogba was never a penalty. It was just a coming together. Look at where the ball was going. Moss clearly thought it worth bringing MA's attention to the hallball. I hope you...

Metal caps on the goal line

In your response you say 'good health and safety'. A guy whose job is H&S, said that the fact that these metal caps are on the field of play would mean that, if an equivalent was happening in his workplace, he would be raising concerns. Your analogy with pegs is not the same as a metal...

Metal caps on the goal line

Maybe quite a few times as they run in to score a well timed header at the far post, and then run over the metal cap. Are you taking into consideration the likelihood of a player actually being in that area as part of your thought process? Would it be different if it was the centre spot or...

Women’s Charity Shield Scott Red Card

Thanks. I assumed that a lot would be classed as reckless or other yc offence anyway.

Metal caps on the goal line

But if a player were to catch a stud in the cap, a leg could easily be broken. And the alternative is surely not to leave a hole, but to actually take out the old holders? I've not noticed these before but I assume they're common on multi use pitches.

Women’s Charity Shield Scott Red Card

I was under the potentially gross misapprehension that the yc for spa was not to be given under the new lotg, if advantage had been played. Have I totally misread that?

Metal caps on the goal line

Thanks. Does anyone know what covers are put on to cover the sprinklers at league grounds? I see that the best systems lower the sprinklers to well below turf level but I can't see what covers them up. Sounds like there'd be something artificial.

Metal caps on the goal line

The metal caps are on the goal line, 4ft outside the goalposts. They cover the previous goalpost holders as this was changed from an adult to a junior u13 pitch, although the penalty area is actually still adult size. The covers are flat but metal and I have concerns of a slip or elbow etc onto...
