@HullRef
A tip I was given is to wait before calling an advantage... Think: foul - 1,2,3 - then decide whether to call advantage or pull it back... Gives you that extra time to decide
Personally I wouldn't expect this to lead to a player reacting badly... This sort of calm, relaxed refereeing is a big part of my game and for me, the hand on the shoulder can really help a situation and is not something I am thinking of changing
Personally no issue whatsoever with the hand on the shoulder... Can't understand personally why so many refs seem to think that they shouldn't touch players and vice versa.
If player had commited VC because of it then it has to be a red card, and personally if have been calling in the captain...
So... U16 county cup semi final... Kick off in beautiful weather then the English winter kicks in and drops to about 1 Celsius with driving wind and snow... Half time comes and the home manager (u15) takes his team off citing duty of care... Referee therefore abandons game as only 1 team left...
Doubt any clubs know the difference between and obligation and reccomendation... I'm sure that if I walk over to any manager (in my leagues at least) and ask him to put up camp on a certain side of the pitch that he will do it...
Whistle twitch
Ball hitting me (got an assist this weekend haha)
Arms getting confused after half time (usually can laugh this off)
Shouting 'yes please 9' then saying 'what's your name please... Thanks Steve what number you got on??'
