    Assessments

Ryan, you will only be assessed if you are on the promotion scheme, unless you can contact an independent assessor if you know one who could do a mock assessment for you. But basically, an assessor will come down and will watch your whole game, they may not make their presence aware to you at...

How old do you have to be to ref an under 16s game

Ross, that's what I'm doing now! 16 and on the open age. Find it much more enjoyable.

How old do you have to be to ref an under 16s game

Technically you aren't allowed. Until you are 16 you have to do games that are 2 years below your age group. So because you would play in U16 (I'm assuming), the maximum you could do is U14. I think I have that right, someone else may correct me though :)

Course Passed - First Game this Weekend!

What county are you with Luke? (just curiosity) I'd say just try and enjoy it! If possible you could always go down to another amateur game which might have kicked off earlier and talk to the referee there and ask him to explain some things that he has done to you. Or, if you have been assigned...

    Tips on positioning

One comment that I have had from assessors and also from coaches at the academy I go to, is using pro-active positioning rather than reactive positioning (and movement). Basically, position yourself in the area that you think play will move into, then if you have successfully done this, then the...

    Last weeks ref...

Like @Ross said, even if last weeks ref did everything as he should have, the teams will still try and find a way out of removing the under garments and tape by telling you that last weeks ref said it was fine!

    2nd assessment

We don't get them at London, until level 4 I believe.

    Quiet day at the office...

Had a similar one to that @refdave83 a few games ago. An incident occurred, I think it may have been a foul throw or something like that (a relatively minor issue) and a player appealed for it. I said 'How did you see that? You weren't even looking!' (in a jokey manner) and he even admitted that...

    Dan, will do. Many thanks.

Can you buy kits from any shops?

Jertzee, when I initially passed my course, my instructors on the course said that as long as you wear something black, then for your first couple of games that will be fine until you get your official kit.

    Warm-Up Routines?

Steve, I think that the left and right ones are completed in a diagonal type pattern, where you step two paces to the left whilst going forward, and then two paces to the right. I may be wrong though. The hamstring walk, is when swing your leg into the air, I think.

PGMOL Fitness Test - Academy Scheme

Dan, do London have one? I didn't think they did? I'm sure they're run instead by the club's academies (Arsenal, Tottenham, Charlton). I may be wrong though?

    joining wolves academy as referee

I'm starting with Arsenal's Academy next season, and I have heard from people that it is quite strict, for both players and officials. The players do not show much dissent as they are all fighting for a pro contract and so don't want to be kicked out and so are on their best behaviour. For the...

    Two Assessments

Steve, another reason could be that if you get assessed by an assessor, and they give you 65 - you fail overall. The next time you apply for promotion, you will spend your whole season hoping not to get 'that' assessor again. Then if you do get him/her, it could potentially cause problems for...

    Two Assessments

We do still get 3 points of improvement, and 3 points of strengths. Just get a massive description of key match incidents too! Steve, the reason for not giving the scores out to level 7's, 6's and 5's is to try and stop them from losing faith - basically. If as a level 7 ref you saw your score...

    Two Assessments

You're lucky how you get your score at the bottom! I'd love to have that in England! However, it is a shame that they don't go into as much detail as over here... What is the pass mark for you? Looks like a good report nonetheless! Were you happy with it?

    setting goals for 2013/14 season

Main aim, to attain level 6... If I can achieve that - even though I was not meant to be on the promotion scheme this year due to me starting it at 15, then I'd be well chuffed!

    confused

Generally as a level 8, you would be doing youth leagues and academies (dependant on what academy you go to). Level 7 you would do the same standard of football as the level 8 youth league, but instead of youth, you could/would do open age. I think from level 7 - 5 you can become an assistant on...
