I think the news article have mis-reported what happened. There's another thread on here which shows a video of the referee showing Suarez a straight red card, which could be appealed.

Generally the referee should make contact with you before the game, say on the Wednesday for a Saturday game. If this doesn't happen, I'm sure they won't mind if you drop them a line and ask what time they would like you there. What level will you be assisting at?

I'd have to disgaree with @Jacob Walukiewicz. If you would've given a penalty and a red card for DOGSO if the handball was successful, you should've given a yellow.

One of my local Sunday leagues pay £35 and the other £40. Midweek league is £30 and £25 for referees and assistants respectively. Saturday's (supply league) is £32 for referees and £25 for assistants + 30p per mile. Contributory leagues are the standard.
