    MOAS - Morning and afternoon

Does anyone know the times that each of morning and afternoon relate to? For example, if I close the morning and afternoon of a day, what time would afternoon finish? I would expect tea time, so 5pm ish. Anyone know? Just because I usually finish work by about 4pm, so can do evening fixtures...

    Blood pressure test

That's the issue with Lloyds, I had 1 local that I could use quickly. I had to travel an hour for the test that I actually passed and even then it wasn't a Lloyds, had been taken over a couple of weeks before. The booking system still had it down as Lloyds though. I rang in advance and told...

    Blood pressure test

Lloyds Pharmacy will do them for you. Costs £7.50. Some have closed/are closing, but worth using their online booking service to look at where and what's available. It may also be worth ringing those pharmacies that do the over 40 and see if they'll do it for you if you explain the situation.

    1st weekend of preseason

1 middle yesterday at late notice (day before). Had nar's. Step 7 team Vs a team made up of youngsters from a couple of Saturday afternoon teams (they said they were a new Sunday League team). Away team matched home team to be fair in terms of quality. 2-0 to home, goals on 36 and 39 minutes...

2nd yellow given here for SPA. Was this the right call?

I think the ball is actually just still in play on the second one

    Fitness test

You'll find it's easier in a group. It is definitely a mind battle as it's a boring test, imo. And repetitive. Also on the day, there's the pressure to get it done so you don't have to go again. Different world to a casual session. When I did mine, travelling a near 130 mile round trip on a...

    Just ended my ref career

Sorry to read all that, I hope you manage to come back to refereeing at some point in the future. Don't let idiots on the side get you down. I won't lie, I also read the age group as 'U9' at first, which shocked me about them travelling 5 hours, until I saw my mistake... Edit - to add, if...

Awarded a penalty nobody asked for

How long between the clip and you blowing the whistle? All I can say is maybe delay the whistle a second or 2, but then you have the issue of '2 bites of the cherry'. Tough one imo. Probably just make a decision and try to sell it. Say you thought the players' shot was heading wide or something...

    First 11v11 game

Regarding players asking about added time, I usually say ' 2 minutes minimum', or a variation of. That way they can't moan when you play more because of a very late injury.

    Older new ref

I would say go for promotion, you'll have more options of higher quality games, I think if you're a level 5 as well you'd be more likely to be appointed to FA competitions. I had none in my 4 seasons as a 7, then got 4 in my first season (this season) as a 5. I would say definitely go for it.

    Foul inside penalty area

I can only write what I feel from my games, there have been games I haven't used that spiel (I went through a spell of a few weeks) and thought I had issues so brought it back in. If I feel it works, I feel it works.

    Foul inside penalty area

Re - players shouts At the coin toss I tell the captains I will look to play advantage if I can (different to late whistle/thinking time). I say I may bring it back after 2/3/4 seconds, it's not listening to the shouts, it's just that no advantage has occurred. Those are pretty much my exact...

GK kicking up penalty spot before PK

Making unauthorised marks on the field of play is the offence.

Maybe he's not used to a decent ref 😉

    Advantage - offside

I do this, I did a game once and afterwards one of the teams said they'd never known a referee blow so late for fouls. I think they lost about 8-1, iirc, never had it since or before, and I've done an awful lot of games in 5 seasons.

    Leeds vs Liverpool

I didn't think it was handball at the time, fwiw. I can see why it would be given, maybe from certain angles, but I think I'd be going no offence in my games.

I couldn't find a way so had to email my RDO. I don't think there's another way unfortunately.
