I think we have a duty of care to the players, and should be able to stop a player playing if they don't where appropriate shinguards. The same as jewellery
IMO the governing bodies should have banned the tiny ones that the likes of Grealish where, ages ago. It only takes a tackle like Soucek's this evening to cause a very nasty injuryry
I think you've added an image to suit your own argument lol. I would suggest at the point of contact (see here) he was well clear of the defenders and would have had an "obvious" goalscoring opportunity !
Problem with "friendlies" is that as the players aren't registered to a team / league yet, you often get suspended players playing games as "trialists" just to make up the numbers. Plus they think the ref isn't going to caution / send players off because "it's just a friendly, ref !"
