    Goalpost shapes

Law 1 states that: Can anyone elucidate what "hybrid" means in this context?

    Serbia v England

I saw a challenge on Mitrovic - I didn't see a foul, however (just as the referee and the VAR didn't).

    True Story...

I have a pair of Sooty and Sweep glove puppets for sale. I'll take a fiver for them - I just want to get them off my hands.

    True Story...

A police officer stopped me yesterday due to the terrible state of the sleeve on my cardigan, which is covered in small balls of fluff. I've been charged with grievous bobbly arm.

Signal for Direction of Throw In

On a similar vein, after I made a couple of incorrect signals early on in my refereeing journey (pretty much always just after half time) what I started doing was just calling which team had the throw, "red ball," "white ball" etc. I could always remember which team had touched it last, so just...

    Man U v Arsenal

It's not the main topic of discussion - it's just one of many and far from being the most discussed topic. For instance, this topic has 13 entries so far, the VAR vote one has 89.

    Clear daylight offside

Again, this is not real. No such trial has been approved by the IFAB for next season. Here's the list of all of the currently approved ones.

    Clear daylight offside

There's a list of all currently approved trials that can be tried next season on the IFAB website. This isn't one of them.

    Man U v Arsenal

None of those reasons apply to why the pitch is built up so high. The first two only talk about why the pitch has a "slight slope" from the centre to the touchlines but not why there's such a steep drop-off at the sides. The third "reason" isn't actually a reason at all, just an observation as...

    Initial Contact - PK?

A tackle isn't a continuing foul though, it's a single point of contact foul. It doesn't matter where the player ends up after tumbling to the ground, it matters where the contact occurs. If the point of contact was outside the penalty area, it's a DFK outside the area, even if the player's...

    Real Vs Bayern

According to beIN Sports, with a 3D graphic analysis that they posted on Twitter, they reckon the player that challenged for the ball (Noussair Mazraoui) was onside when the ball was played.

    FA services down (again)

On Sunday I was unable to log into the FA Player and was getting an error message about services being unavailable. I guess that was also related. Haven't tried it again since, though.

    Goalkeeper handball question

You don't want it in high level matches either. :D

    Liv Vs Spurs

Yes it is - and we've had this discussion before. They've left the old wording in about touching or challenging for the ball before it's in play that made sense when the ball wasn't in play till it left the penalty area but doesn't when the ball is in play as soon as it is kicked and moves.

Manager demanded I speak to him

As pointed out by @Gabriel above, there's no yellow card for a team official entering the field of play - it's either a warning or a red card. If you wanted it to be a yellow card it would have to be for one of the other listed offences such as dissent but then you would be ignoring the whole...

    Law Changes from July 2024

Why pick only those two examples? The words deliberate or deliberately appear 43 times in the current edition of the laws. And I would definitely disagree on all saves being deliberate. Many saves are totally unintentional, such as when the ball is hit straight at the player and they can't get...

    True Story...

My landlord says he wants to talk to me about why the heating bills for my flat are so high. I told him he could pop round any time, my door is always open.

    Law Changes from July 2024

Yes, just as we are called on to do in many different parts of the law. The element of intent was only ever removed from physical contact fouls.

    Law Changes from July 2024

We do have the full wording, and it's not as has been quoted several times in this thread. The full wording of the explanation is this particular change is: "Clarification that non-deliberate handball offences for which penalties are awarded are to be sanctioned in the same way as fouls which...

goalkeeper sent off for handball - dogso?

We've had this discussion before (just over a month ago). There are two different but closely-related offences that are often conflated; denying a goal (DOG), and denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO). This particular incident falls into the DOG category, rather than DOGSO. And...
