    2021-22 kit

Ordered from the Referee Store in the end. Order placed Wednesday and arrived today - very good service! Pro Direct wanted to charge almost as much for delivery as the socks cost!

    2021-22 kit

Anyone else having issues getting hold of socks? Managed to order two new shirts (black and alternative) and shorts, but nowhere seems to have the socks to match the 20/21/22 kit.

    Was refereeing kids football

"Lot of decisions going to the home team here ref". That'll be because you've spent the last 40 minutes camped in your own penalty area with about 10% possession, coach...

Horrendous challenge and a nailed on red. Depressing to see several ex-players (looking at you, Lineker) claim it’s not even a foul because he got the ball!

Agree. For such an experienced ref I don’t think Brych has handled this particularly well.

    Getting Ready for 21/22

Season just finished last weekend for me, so taking a couple of weeks off with minimal fitness work to give a couple of niggles (no doubt caused by me doing more games this season than I'd done in the last 3 seasons combined) time to resolve themselves. Need to finish off my safeguarding...

    Coach Dismissal

I won't go into too many details here as I suspect the coach is likely to try and dispute the dismissal, but please can somebody let me know how to report the dismissal of a coach for threatening behaviour and abusive language on Wholegame? Should it be under non playing non playing participant...

    Antonio Mateu Lahoz

Lovely city St Petersburg. Not sure I’d fancy a day trip though…

    Antonio Mateu Lahoz

It was great wasn’t it? After all this time it was so nice to just be able to do something normal (if we forget all the tests, passenger locators, temp checks etc). Walked back through the front door at 7.30am. I’m exhausted, we lost and half our group is still in Porto after a cancelled...

What game? Pretty sure I’ve just had a great day in Porto in the sun with no football of any kind.

    Brentford V Bournemouth

Thought Gillett was exceptional today in what was a really challenging game. A perfect example of how to handle the big occasion.

    Junior/Youth One of "those" games

In a twist of fate I have reds again this weekend. I hope they've learned a lesson from last time and they'll have a clean slate like all teams I ref, but does anyone have any suggestions for getting on top of them immediately if they start to play up again?

    Brighton v Man City

As performances go, I thought this was a prime example of how to completely lose control of a game. Inconsistent and constantly incorrect decision making throughout (the Jesus one shared above being one of many baffling decisions). I think there's an argument to be had about whether Welbeck...

    Ref Six - Watch

Feels like I'm in a minority here, but I just couldn't get on with it on my Apple Watch. Found it difficult to use and the timers just didn't work (wasn't able to start/stop etc.

    Man United v Liverpool

Totally aware of that, but it feels slightly foolish to give somebody another high profile game immediately after missing a KMI in a high profile game.

    Man United v Liverpool

The bit in bold there is really interesting. Was having a conversation with my Dad last night about how it felt like AT is getting A LOT of big games at the moment; not sure how much of this is down to me having more time to watch games, but off the top of my head he's had both Mcr derbies this...

    Manchester City v PSG

Feels odd to not be complaining about decisions after a UCL knockout game, but it could have been very different. I'm not sure what Bjorn Kuipers saw for the Zinchenko penalty decision (0.15 in the video), but for all of the justified hatred for VAR, it did exactly what it was designed for and...

Junior/Youth "You must've taken a big bribe, ref"

I'd definitely echo this. Coaches are generally supportive and are particularly keen to clamp down on dissent; if I speak to a player re dissent they are generally subbed pretty quickly or, as happened at the weekend, will be taken to one side by the coach at the next break in play. I've been...

    The social media boycott

I've noticed co-ordinated statements going out from a lot of the participants this morning and the replies really illustrate why this is needed. I'll be taking part too. There's no excuse for the likes of Facebook and Twitter, with the resources that they have, failing to take action against abuse.
