    What is "dissent"?

Not strictly true. After the first couple of reds surely they would learn... Or maybe not

    Published Match Reports

I will. Love reading them. I had one which stated I played 6 minutes added time at the end of a cup match!! It was 4. I was amused and asked them about it when I went back. The chap I question laughed and said it made a more interesting report. :)

    Matches

I did 4 in a week on hard pitches which led to me doing something to my knee recently!! Record is 6 in 9 days 2 seasons back at end of season. I was knackered after that!!! 2 a week is my new limit!!!

Are you giving a foul for this shoulder charge

Lol what kind of prison league is that footage from? Borderline assault and I would be raising the whistle to my lips, before realising nobody is asking for it and slowly moving the whistle back down again

    10 yards

i know one of my paces comes to about a yard. I use bigger strides if any defender gets a little gobby. Worth measuring your normal stride just so you know, but that said the guy was taking the peas mate. Universal law of football - there are idiots out there. You have come across some of...

    DOGSO in Arsenal v Hull

If shot has been taken and is flying on target goal wards, regardless of keepers position, a player sticking out an arm to stop the shot is always walking for a DOGSO surely. The wording for me is clear - opportunity. Not definite goal.

    Knee injury

Went for some treadmill work at the gym. 30 minutes of mixed intensity running and it was fine. No reaction at all so far. Fingers crossed...

    First game today

You may have got the corner decision wrong because you didn't know which way it should have gone, but you handled it correctly - if you don't know go with the decision that potentially causes least harm. In this instance goal kick. :) Well done mate. Onwards and upwards

    DOGSO in Arsenal v Hull

You have to wonder; players get paid a lot of money to play. They get paid a lot of money to commentate once their playing days are done. At no point in their careers did they think to pick up the LOTG and have a flipping read of it. It's only been your job. All your adult lives.

    Penalty Kick and Injured player

Eh? As for the original scenario, no penalty taker is staying down and wanting treatment if it means he won't get the penalty kick himself.... Even if his leg is broken in 3 places, he'll still want the kick himself before he goes off for treatment! :D

    DOGSO in Arsenal v Hull

Commentators are idiots. The second challenge - the attacker was going way wide of the goal and defenders were getting back. No guarantee he would even have got a shot off. Clever play to ensure he got the penalty though :)

What offences are classed as persistent

Not quite the same but I threatened to caution a player if he took another sh!t shot at goal that flew off into the crowd! He thought I was joking... :D

    Blisters from crabbing

Slightly off topic, but I remember being AR for a ref who I had just met that game. During his prematch chat in the changing room he said something like "right lads, I do prematch warm up a bit different from other refs...." as he takes a huge (and I mean huge) jar of vaseline out of his kit...

    Knee injury

Hmmm. After much trying to persuade myself that I would be fine to do a game Saturday, I have seen sense and withdrawn to give the knee rest. :foot: Short term pain (of no game) leading to hopefully long term gain (swift recovery!) Somehow just doesn't sit right. The little voice in the back...

    Knee injury

Saw a doctor today - patella tendonitis. Rest is the only real cure. I had already had a gun (lol autocorrect - should be gym) session which did involve some deadlifts (not so much knee) and squats (a bit more knee orientated) and had minimal reaction. Even so, looks like I am having a week...

Eeek, I have been given my first middle with NAR

Fair play to the lad, have to respect that kind of dedication from your league secretary! As stated above there are pages and pages of advice on briefing to assistants on this forum. Do a quick search. I am sure Brian Hamilton posted some very comprehensive stuff on the subject last season...

    Knee injury

picked up an odd injury Sunday. After about 30 minutes I had a hot, sharp pain right up the centre of my knee cap. Never had a knee injury before, the whole area was swollen with what looked like a lump. Had to give in to the pain and stop at half time as it was just getting worse. Got ice on...
