    GER v SCO - Euro 24

This seems less of an IFAB mandated trial, and more something Rossetti has instructed for his refs, and told players.

    GER v SCO - Euro 24

Rules analyst, not laws! Either way, she had the right outcome, and I guess she had it in fan language. As refs, we all know it’s SFP. Would’ve liked to hear ‘endangering safety’ to be fair

    GER v SCO - Euro 24

At least eh, was giving myself more scope to be right! In fairness I wrote that as I saw the behind angle, and the movement was reckless. Saw a second, and the contact was blatantly red. Couldn’t take it back once I wrote it. :wall:

    GER v SCO - Euro 24

No surprises. Nasty challenge that and he can’t really have any complaints. Cleared him out, through the ankle and undoubtedly endangers safety of the opponent. Nice to hear commentary agreeing.

    GER v SCO - Euro 24

Currently undergoing a review for a foul on Gundo, which will be a PK. Will be shocked if this isn’t given, and at least cautioned for Reckless.

    GER v SCO - Euro 24

Yeah, realised when I thought about it. That being said, been a long time since I’ve seen it while watching live for anything besides offside. Would’ve liked it to be an OFR, as there were multiple contact points and very close together time wise.

    GER v SCO - Euro 24

First VAR intervention of Euro 2024 with Turpin giving a penalty, and VAR giving a free kick on the edge of the PA. Intrigued that the ref wasn’t sent to the pitchside monitor? First time I’ve seen that in a while. Either way, thought it was a stonewall PK real time, but seems a good...

    Promotion Scheme U-Turn

I've done 53 lines, and I'm on to get my 4 in the coming season providing all goes well. Wouldn't want to be reaching L4 with much less experience in honesty - made some errors and definitely learnt something in every game.

Has there been any change to 5-4?

    Single game card record

13 was my record set this year, 3 of which were straight reds, and 6 of which came after Full Time. 15 is a corker, absolutely!

BBC article - Ex pro's wanting to be referees

Start them at 7, and take them through the same way as the rest of us. If the pathway is built so we build skills and serve our time at each level to become better, what makes them any better - just because they used to be in the other changing room at the grounds we go to.

    First Caution

Can’t convince you to report a caution, but Gabriel has correctly pointed out your responsibility to do it, and the penalty carried if not. That being said, if you want to teach someone a lesson about a caution, do not bring the card out to do it! Talk and explain that something could’ve been...

New referee in the UK: when are most games played? Looking for some advice

Generally; football on our 'non league' pyramid, which is basically the national system a team can take to progress up to the Premier League, is always played on a Saturday. This means when you progress beyond L5, you will have to be available on a good portion of Saturdays. Sunday football, on...

    Pre-Season Training

I'm about 5 sessions into my pre-season. Currently all Pitch Based HIIT, just to try and build on existing stamina, and maintain the improvements I've made over the last season. Ultimately testing myself by running the fitness test, but doing other timed runs etc. to benchmark myself. Once my...

    Remuneration

This has been the most cyclical ‘debate’ i’ve ever been witness to.

Keep in mind, no chance it'll finish on time either. In my first few months of officiating I ended up doing 10 hours for £50

    Dutch FA Rule Change Proposals

I think measuring distance in stopped play, where we can measure in paces for example, is very different to measuring the distance a ball has travelled across the field. This is due to the reference points, for example, we can’t use paces. We can’t use pitch markings, as pitches are allowed to...
