    Scottish VAR review

Willie might rue being so harsh on his referees, now Rangers feel they can express an opinion on his referee appointments to matches that don’t even involve Rangers...

    West Ham v Brighton

I think RJ missed it because his view was impeded but VAR? Surely seeing the shinpad move would have prompted VAR to review, lucky that wasnt bone! Ticked all the excessive force boxes, speed, distance, intensity, out of control.....

    Scottish VAR review

Last night’s match, Referee gave straight red, VAR recommended a review & referee stuck with his decision.

    Scottish VAR review

Willie Collum is brutal on his analysis, doesn’t sit on the fence AKA Dermot Gallagher, to support his match officials. He consistently has a much lower threshold for SFP, which I don’t think his match officials are implementing.

    Bournemouth v West Ham

Playing devils advocate, if I do huge swipe of my foot miss the ball, catch attacker by smallest contact & his cross goes exactly as intended, i.e. a free header from six yards, is VAR recommending a penalty review? So why is a small contact with the hand which has no impact a penalty?

    Bournemouth v West Ham

Was more a European referee penalty & EPL referee play on as the cross reached its destination perfectly. If this was a foul that had no consequence then wouldn't be brought back for a foul by VAR. https://youtube.com/clip/Ugkx7pcZAdPL6DWSiDC1w_07S6UkARFBq18n?si=gJV2YxcfHTJpnSEP or...

    Che v Bre

Here is clip of his second caution for AA, not sensible when you are on a yellow & have won the match. Perhaps he wanted a Christmas break. :)

    Union Berlin v Bochum

Another consideration, is the betting implications when neither team tried to score again or win for the final minutes?

Indirect free kick on edge of goal area

Penalised a back pass when GK picked it up inside their goal area. We now have a ceremonial IFK on edge of the goal area very central. We covered this recently somewhere on forum of difficulty of stopping encroachment when starting point is 6 yards away. So, I thought, set the defenders & GK...

    Union Berlin v Bochum

Not easy for the referee, 2nd minute of 5 minutes of added time, away GK hit by object thrown by crowd & cannot continue. Referee suspends match for 30 minutes & resumes match with no subs left, outfield player goes in goal. Both sets of players agree to see out time with neither team...

    Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa

You could argue they were both guilty of pulling & shirt holding, I suspect both referee & VAR deemed it was 50/50 on holding & pulling? https://www.skysports.com/football/video/30998/13273777/jamie-redknapp-argues-aston-villa-should-have-been-awarded-a-penalty-against-nottingham-forest

    Was this one Offside?

I agree, incredibly poor officiating, firstly not offside, should take ten seconds to conclude that. Even then, clearly deliberate play, based on distance, the defender's issue was poor technique, used wrong foot to attmept to kick the ball. Were the offcials reading the law book or looking at...

    Sheffield Wed v Preston

I wonder if that was why BM whistled so late, his AR wanted the drop ball & BM was happy to play on.

    Lucy Bronze non substitution

Old news, but good focus from 4O not to allow the substitution as she was not on the list. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5967255/2024/12/03/lucy-bronze-substitute-england-switzerland/ BBC Sports page had her listed as one of 12 England subsitutes.

    Sheffield Wed v Preston

Interesting law check as ball hits a water bottle. Drop ball where ball hits the water bottle, Bobby Madley through no fault of his own gets controversial headline. Thoughts?

    Southampton v Liverpool

Does anyone think HW speaking to an EPL manager after a contentious, subjective offside decision actually helps? FWIW, the BBC poll, was 69%/31% in favour of allowing the goal. https://www.skysports.com/southampton

    IFAB AGM

or reminder to EPL managers stay in your technical area & it isn't possible to interfere with the ball in play 😂

Great non story headline 'Van Dijk slams refere Chris Cavanagh'! More anti referee nonsense. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/virgil-vandijk-liverpool-mancity-referee-34226231
