    Some clubs are rotten

TBH we had a ref sec a few years ago, that did just that. He allocated the refs to the best behaved teams first (from the marks given by the opposition) and let the clubs with the worst reputation do it themselves

    Some clubs are rotten

Fair point, but if we all did that, who refs youth football, then ?

Player refuse to take out jewelry

I didn't think a player could play with any type of jewellery. I check them before KO and refuse let them play unless it's removed (they soon remove it lol). I'll have to check the LOTG regarding cautioning them if it's during the match etc. I'm sure (if I had missed it prior to KO) I would have...

    Palace v Man City FAC

Exactly ! Therefore, could VAR have intervened as playing on was a clear and obvious error ?

    Palace v Man City FAC

I think it'll be too start / stop doing that. It'll be like american football and will go on for 3 hours !

    Palace v Man City FAC

Isn't it done with fact based decisions in other sports, though ? ie IN/OUT in tennis, hitting the stumps in cricket. Yes, the handball would have been fact based, but the penalty is still subjective. Also, how would city have known it was outside the area ? Would they have their own cameras...

    Palace v Man City FAC

Don't like the idea of a challenge based system. Once you encourage the idea that referee decisions can be challenged, I think you're treaded dangerous ground and it would be a nightmare at grassroots.

    Palace v Man City FAC

I totally understand that, but this is a shocking decision. Maybe a game of this magnitude should have cameras looking at all areas of the match. The BBC showed the correct angle within seconds

    Palace v Man City FAC

I think you're missing my point. The whole system is flawed (ie what VAR can and can't give etc). At the end of the day VAR has spotted that the keeper handled outside the area and not even handball was given, let alone DOGSO. When the ref sees that incident on TV I think he'll feel let down by...

    Palace v Man City FAC

All the talk about what VAR can and can't get involved with, but yesterday showed what a farce it's become. Fact is, in front of millions of people, the keeper has handled the ball outside the area, and the current system (albeit the refereeing team, VAR..whatever) has failed to spot it. Plus...

    Palace v Man City FAC

I take your point, but maybe he could have swiped it home with his right foot. I think, as you have knowledge of the player, you're assuming he's going to cut it back onto his left (by which time the defender could be covering) and shoot. We're not there to make assumptions. I just feel it was...

    A year today

My routine is like this... Sunday evening...why do I do this ? did I get that decision wrong etc ? Monday evening...it's not that bad. I got the vast majority correct, didn't I. I'll check the one I think got wrong and do better next time Tuesday evening...I wonder who i've got this weekend ...

    A year today

My favourite analogy, is that we're piano players. Anyone can stand there and tell someone how they should play the piano, but can they play it themselves ? no, they can't ! Maybe we play the wrong notes at times, but we've been taught how to play it, and know what to do. Until they've learnt...

Throw ins- how far can the player get?

I like that. Again, we're getting completely let down by the professionals for allowing this to happen, and making us look really fussy, when all we're trying to doing is our job properly

Throw ins- how far can the player get?

Or... rather than looking at/for you to tell them, they stop cheating and actually start taking them from where they're supposed to lol

Jeez ! You know who's encouraging that behaviour then 🤦‍♂️

Throw ins- how far can the player get?

Actually, it might have been Arsenal v Bournemouth

    Abandoned game due to abuse.

Hope you're ok, Gabriel. I've been in grassroots footy for many, many years and the latest culture shift is worrying. I just can't see how the bottom level of the game can be improved until it's rectified at the very top. Even in the last couple of days...rather than Barca accepting defeat...

Throw ins- how far can the player get?

Anyone see Joe Hart's summary of the Arsenal v Brentford is game on MOTD ? stating that Brentford were "streetwise" and "were really clever here" because they took a throw-in nowhere near the corner flag where it went out, which led to a goal from a header. No....it's called cheating and they...

    General query

I think you know the answer to the question yourself. The comment "During the game a couple of slightly reckless challenges were made and play was allowed to carry on" concerns me. From how it's described, if the ref had dealt with these in the first place, the captain wouldn't have been...
