What is youth football for? Perhaps at this level its doubly tricky as the younger refs in our league (14/15) may not want to card and as we don't have a dedicated refs secretary we have not had clear guidance on what is expected from us and the teams. I was going to ping him for the edge of...
I had a 9 year old who pushed me to the limit of my patience on Sunday. Lots of fouls followed by a "what?" face each time and a slam down of the ball after one decision. Plenty of calm down's from me but his coach thankfully took him off for a rest but then the player carried on! I very loudly...
If a player controlled and scored when the ball had been in the defence favour before the stoppage I think that player will probably be getting some punishment from the opposition later in the game! Of course I would ensure that I sanction any foul play against them but you'd have to be thinking...
you could say to the attacker that if tries to score then it will be a goal kick so may as well just tap it to the goalie and have no worries. I always thought that the gk can pick straight up anyway.
Had a crowd reaction recently at the u7's cup final I did; as I whistled for ht half the crowd booed me as their team were on the attack. Then at the weekend I quickly tried to get a stray ball off the pitch with what should have been a side foot pass on the floor but got under it slightly and...
Absolutely, he was intending to intimidate and threaten you. Put in context to your county rdo and looks very bad for the player. I'd even have a word with your tutor at sixth form if it's bothering you.
That was my thought, the dodgy patch was in the centre circle, bounce was non existent but rolled fine. As it was u10s I thought they would be less damaging to the surface but a few times I felt unsteady on it. Played ok but was right on the limit of what I would deem playable.
Looking at the FOP before my game today, it was wet and a bit squelchy with not a huge amount of bounce but I realised that I didn't really know what surfaces would be easily sellable as unplayable? When it's wet (not frozen), what do you look for?
This is where rugby style citing with video evidence would be invaluable. It got rid of the awful stamping and raking in the ruck in rugby union. They'd need to employ about a 1000 video evidence judges to keep up with the actions of the football league!
You're right there I think KB, I don't know whether we as referees can stopa game in progress if we realise the FOP is the wrong size? Anyone know the rules?
There are many lines of work where a conviction like his would bar you from employment. I don't think he should be allowed back on a football pitch in a professional capacity ever again.
Think of this:
1) he can have nothing to do with any academy or youth events as he is on the sex offenders...
If you've laid out your rules before on language then you could. I make it clear that I have a very low tolerance for bad language, especially if directed at me. Call me a d*ck then you may meet my yellow and red friends tom and Harry!
I've seen a few of the younger referees in tracksuits but it does look scruffy. Wear under layers if need be but make sure your badge is on show. You earned it and only 0.4% of the UK population have one so show it off.
Not really @HertsFinest, the last two games I have played have been charity ones both at harlow town!
I remembered the bottom pitch opposite the car park being quite bad and all the goals near the woodland being covered in acorns! Have you reffed at donkey lane in Enfield? The pitches there are...
Harlow Arena formerly and better known as Barrows Farm, has a 3G pitch so you feel like you are floating on air. Just the local ryman league ground but fun walking out of the tunnel and having a good changing room.
@HertsFinest presdales is probably fun to ref but not to play in goal on, the...
