    offside offence - interfering

Thanks for further reply. Obviously straying away from main topic, but interesting. Some PL teams now use 'blockers' at corners, which in a away is what this lone striker is trying to achieve. My guess is you are allowed to 'just be' in your position, and if that happens to be in the way so...

    offside offence - interfering

Just as an interesting next step. The ball is with the winger who is holding possession... meanwhile the keeper tries to move around the box and is effectively getting blocked in every direction he goes (there is now contact).... while that is not 'interfering' as per the 4 bullet points, is it...

    offside offence - interfering

Hi there. Newish Ref. Just seeking clarification over a match incident while as linesman. Attack is building. The 'back four' are holding a line on edge of penalty area. The goalkeeper is virtually on his line, with a lone striker lingering directly in front of him but about 1m away. The...

    GK - Handball DOGSO/SPA

Duh.... I guess this is all related to inside the PA.... outside same rules as outfield players?

    GK - Handball DOGSO/SPA

Reading through LOTG, trying to clarify this. - IF the GK comes out of PA and handles to SPA or DOGSO it looks like there is no sanction? - the only sanction appears to be SPA/DOGSO from a 2nd touch after restart? Am I correct?

    Vaping linesman at U12?

Thanks guys. Instinctively feels like something I shouldn't be involved in at this level. I asked the question in case I was missing one of my duties...

    U14 - Assistant Ref opportunities

Hi there. My son has just completed his first 5 games as a referee, at u11/12 level. i'm curious at what point does he have options to get experience of running the line. I presume he has to wait till 16, as Neutral AR's tend to be only needed at older age groups. Thanks for any pointers

    Shouting/Appealing

I do love the game of football, but I do wish it had the culture of rugby: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/nigel-owens-legendary-this-not-24055354

    Shouting/Appealing

At the level I'm at, over the past 8 games, the stepped approach hasn't worked very well. This is exactly what I tried on Saturday, but it only seemed to invite more conversation, and arguing. I will keep trying, but the conversation at each stage will be 'short and brief' compared to what's...

    Shouting/Appealing

Thanks for all replies. Trying to be honest here. Obviously I'm a new ref, so not so experienced. I suspect though I'm getting my calls correct in the first 15 mins of a game. They are just trying it on, and are used (at this level) to getting away with fouls, and don't like it when I call...

    Shouting/Appealing

Thanks. I especially agree with the comments; my bar for dissent was too high, the demanding/heated captain should have bin sin binned for dissent early on, also the comment ' not accepting the answer' should be a sin bin.. Cheers people.

    Shouting/Appealing

Morning all. 8th game as ref yesterday. One sin bin in last quarter, and one penalty awarded. My question is one team appealed for everything right from the start. One example being foul throws; yet despite playing close attention to the thrower concerned, I couldn't see any infringement...
