    Ref Kit Recommendations

Thanks. That has allayed my fears. My online problem is 'love handles' as I have a fairly flat stomach so all is good if I aim for Nike kits.

    Ref Kit Recommendations

Are the Nike kits 'figure hugging' for athletic types? I have admitted defeat in that respect despite being slightly athletic for my age.

    Ref Kit Recommendations

I am in need of a whole new ref's kit and I am looking for recommendations. The shirt is the priority as my last one is a 15 year old Pro-Star top in Large. Amazingly I can still get in it after a 10 year hiatus, but it doesnt really fit as such. I am an XL in casual tee shirts, hoodies and such...

How Much are Your Ref's Fees?

I tend to agree with that...but in my area an 11 a side game pays double a mini soccer game. I realise two mini soccer games can get you the same fees but there arent always two games to ref.

    Strange OG

Reffed an under 9s game this morning and pretty good natured too. In the second half a young lad gets the ball, dribbles and shoots INTO HIS OWN GOAL. The manager was telling him not to do it and everybody else on the pitch stopped in amazement but he just did it! Fair play to their opponents who...

    General Behaviour Getting Worse

I would consider referees Postmen and the Spectators the canines. You put that black top(other colours top) and you just become the hunted no matter how innocuously you go about your job.

Its not supposed to be 'competitive' anyway. But you put two teams together and get some sort of referee of facilitator and competition is natural. Kids need to play and they deserve to,and they especially want a referee as it gives the impression legitimacy to them.

How Much are Your Ref's Fees?

Is your area typical of the country? I ask in all seriousness because I came back into refereeing because a local team told me they rarely get any refs, including at mini soccer.

    Body Cam

If you attend a professional football match you are being filmed for at least part of the time by the stadium monitoring equipment and a tv company filming the game. While they may not be filming you specifically that footage is available to authorities if needed.

    Body Cam

I would wear one if supplied and I have ticked 'Yes' in the poll but they arent really going to solve many of the real issues facing refs, grassroots in particular. With football the behaviours down the age groups and pyramids all come from the top and unless the abuse to officials in the...

Bromley v Stockport co (you tube to see clip 15mins)

There have been serious incidents in childrens football regarding unsecured goals over the years, mainly in the UK and Europe. I think its why most portable goals used in competition are plastic. Mini soccer used to allow metal frames but have now switched to plastic ones. I believe academies and...

In my opinion 5-0 is too far gone to make much difference. As a referee as well as a watcher I'd want it to be more competitive so 2 or 3 goals maximum. I really enjoy reffing competitive games as its much more fun for all concerned.

I havent read that review but I've never had much faith in the English FA,from a coaching or refereeing standpoint.

    Let The Game Flow

My coaching vibes are strong when I ref as most of the teams I ref are very poor. Just some basic coaching would improve a lot of these teams. But I just concentrate on the reffing and feel a bit sad for the kids who wont fulfill anywhere near their potential.

    General Behaviour Getting Worse

Sorry to hijack the post but I just wanted to add that I too,in the past, have been the 'victim' of criminal damage, constant threats of violence and fearing for my safety. It wasn't what forced me to take a break from reffing, that was more health stuff, but I am a stubborn bugger and dont back...

    Let The Game Flow

Experience teaches you to politely nod your head but carry on reffing the way you feel is most comfortable for you as referee. The intimidation factor is strong towards younger refs but if you can resist it at first you will continue to do so. Like most things,a half decent ref wil, be their own...
