The ref was clearly confident that the first attempt to control the ball with his feet was inside the field of play, thus his actions were entirely correct
Would have been interesting to see the linos positioning to see how much help he could have given him.
If the ball was out of play then...
Trying to be clever, funny or too vague will only wind the benches up. I have been instructed to give an approx time left making sure the phrase' plus added' is included. If asked how much Is to be added I would reply- that's the refs call.
Don't concern yourself with club marks just yet. Your refereeing will be assessed objectively by observers. Subjective, irrational and uneducated marks from clubs based on the result and something innocuous as a foul throw are worthless(in the main). Some clubs can raise themselves to give...
Played in a vets tournament in Holland a couple of years back- refs were good apart from not liking a challenge/full blooded tackle.
I am not talking 60's/ 70's/80's style brutality but the sort of fair challenge you see every weekend at supply/contrib.
Lost in the final , gutted but proud...
There is too little resource to support all referees. So those at the very start and those with ambitions to climb the ladder get the observers/mentors etc.
That is not to stop small groups of refs getting together to provide similar support for each other.
Don't worry too much about Match record cards- you will experiment with loads of types/styles before settling on the one that works for you.
They range from blank bits of paper, full match records , write on cards, tape on back of caution cards and anything in between.
I have tried them all!
Or the competition badge that I hope to be wearing
Have reffed on a number of County games over the last 2 seasons and would be happy to do more.
My post was about the county tie- the leagues I hope to ref in both have their own tie which you are required to don. For lines i will be guided by...
Because if I am not doing County games it means I have been successful in my promotion. Otherwise I will indeed be wearing my new county tie. But like I say hopefully not
It largely depends on your county, some are proactive. It took me 3 years to get my county tie. Just in time to not be doing County games anymore(hopefully)
Games with a fourth official or neutrals would see this work, absolutely. The junior line in a team of 3 could note times etc and let ref know when 10 is up. Senior probably has enough on his plate.
Grassroots is absolutely the wrong place to trial this.
Decision letters must be imminent!!!
I had no trouble with lines or middles - about 30 of each. My knees are knackered as a result. Just need them to last through the fitness test then a rest til pre season.
Can't wait for next season
this should have been trialled and the issues ironed out where there is a 4th official.
A first year ref on a park game has enough to contend with without the added stress of multiple sin bins. Their focus needs to be on play not on their watch. Far too many drop out within the first year...
