I am also stopping play wherever a red card is involved. Even though I had a near riot when I stopped play and issued a second caution even though attackers team mate was running on to score. When he kicked off I said you were 50-50 to miss it!
I generally tend to ask myself one question when these situations occur - Would the attacker have had a very good chance of having a shot on goal? If yes, regardless of ability, then it's a dismissal. If I think it would need a 'worldie' then I generally will caution. To emphasise my point I...
Last minute penalty awarded in a game to away team. Home captain goes nuts.Ref your mates with them and your going on the lash after so your bound to side with them! Cue an easy caution but afterwards in the clubhouse home captain saw I was sat on own whilst away side buggered straight off ' Oh...
Ok so I'm going to open myself to a bashing but here goes.
Halfway through the second half yellow 7 fouls blue 6. Blue 6 reacts with a get out of my space push. Both get cautions for their nonsense. Yellow captain, who's on a caution, starts having a whinge to which I say pack it up and get on...
ANY tackle using two feet is in my opinion using excessive force and therefore a red card. There is no way in hell you can be in control and it's pot luck if you win the ball. A slight misjudgement in the tackle and the victim ends up off work for six months with a broken leg.
NB: Edited as I...
Had an interesting scenario last Sunday. Game delicately balanced at 2-2. Yellow player breaking towards box. Blue skipper trips Yellow player in D, but as covering defenders not DOGSO. Ball breaks into area to team mate with clear shot at goal. I play advantage with big loud shout and arms out...
Having been accused of being a bully when trying to advise a younger colleague not to comment on the performance of a referee on social media, I'm now wondering if there is any acceptable 'criticism' that can be posted on social media.
I was always under the impression that it went against the...
Whilst I completely agree with the majority that a second caution should be the outcome I also feel 'match temperature ' could also be taken into account in these circumstances. I'd you've had complete silence for 75 minutes and this happened you could use the big warning and cut the grass...
Quite simply the referee is clearly wrong here. Once he decided to ignore the flag he MUST award the goal, unless another offside occurs which clearly wasn't the case on this occasion. If he was going to go with the assistant he should have done so immediately. By ignoring his flag and then...
Not necessarily my best but very pleased last Sunday with a particular caution and advantage in my cup final. First half blue 4 has had a few tickings off. Yellows are on the counter, blue 4 takes him out but not before ball played out to winger. Winger crosses centre forward scores and then I...
This is an awkward mess for anyone to sort out but one that I hope that provides clear lessons to be learned. Whilst I would like to say that you have nothing to worry about and the local county FA will clear your name we cannot be so sure. It will all depend on how serious your accuser takes...
Whilst it does generally help coming off the back of a good game it helps to approach every game level headed and to ALWAYS seek to improve. I refereed a cup final last Sunday, had plaudits from both sides and widespread praise but as I was coming off my concern was 'what could I improve? ' My...
It is unlikely you will immediately stop with most cases of injury unless you see it's serious straight away for example an obvious leg break. You will assess whether the player is responding for a few seconds and if not then stop play.
I agree and accept that Brian but surely by gauging intent it would make it easier to make a decision on these incidents?
If you were to use CRUEF then surely Becham's namby pamby 1998 flick would surely only be a caution at best.
If not what makes that different? Is it what the player is...
The clear message we need to remember is intent. If a player swings a kick at a player off the ball his intent must surely be to strike the player and not playing the ball. This is surely violent conduct, is excessive and the player must surely be dismissed. As for two players shoving each other...
