There are a couple of grounds I referee at that have houses with short rear gardens backing onto the pitch. one of them, home team always ask me to ensure no-one swears as local council have issued warnings that football will be stopped if complaints from neighbours persist about bad language.
I...
The part of the law specifying must have part of each foot on the touchline or on the ground immediately behind the touchline causes confusion.
I was running the line in a match earlier this season when player took throw in with both heels on touchline with rest of feet on pitch. Cue subs and...
I had one throw in which left me unsure. Player ducked under crush barrier surrounding pitch and took quick throw in from behind the barrier which would have been about 7 feet from the pitch. Everything else fine about the throw, delivered level with where ball left FOP. Opposition claimed foul...
That is what LOTG state. Handling a backpass in area can only be punished by IDFK. Can never be cautionable offence or red card for dogso even if prevening og.
Was the goalie in his goal area. If so you can only give an indirect free kick. You can not caution goalkeeper for handling a deliberate pass inside his area. This was discussed at length last season on post I initiated on forum.
I have a new pair of umbro moulds for this season but they are already leaving me with wet feet now there is dew on the ground in the morning. I have had same problem with other boots leaking very early in their life between join of sole and uppers around the instep. Are there any...
What are refs views on this one.
Whilst technically a foul ball had long been crossed prior to contact. Happens a lot but not usually penalised, same as if shot is taken in box and sliding challenge/ block makes contact after shot has been completed.
I was more interested in views of retake v indirect free kick. Laws do state verbal distraction punishable by caution and IDFK, so if it were a free kick outside box and player shouts something we would restart with IDFK.
Is everyones opinion that this is different if it occurs at penalty kick...
Yesterday's game as penalty taker kicks ball defender on edge of area yells "Tommys ball " very loudly.
Goal is scored.
If it had been a miss would it have been a retake - laws refer to defender committing infringement results in retake or IFK as laws refer to verbal distraction as such.
Player...
I have many years ago had to referee a few games for my son's team. This was due to me turning up to watch, which normally involved me being press ganged into being a CAR, only to find no ref.
Felt uncomfortable and I ended up giving any 50/50 decisions against his team as I did not want to be...
If player deliberately fell on ball or if accidental and he then remained on top of ball or moved his body across to prevent opponent getting ball then IDFC for obstruction.
If as happened in a match I did last season player accidentley slips on ball and is trying his best to knock it out from...
I went over with the flag to brief CAR before yesterday's u18 game. His first comment was ' Are we playing to this new offside rule today then ref '. After advising him that there was no new law and we are exactly the same as last season at this level.
He did then mention that aswell as the...
PinnerPaul thinks 50+ ref can't get confused with youth players. I did u18 game last season as 50+ ref with home team in all navy blue strip. I had ball passed to me and also had ball left for me to clear in penalty area from player in front of me which led to a very near miss on their goal.
Prior to my game last night I explained to all players on each team how the offside law applied to them and how it was different from what they would be seeing on premier league. There were very puzzled, somewhat bewildered expressions but they just listened and accepted what I was telling them...
I would not entertain providing match ball. Once players know it is yours some smarta*** will try their best to lose it by booting it out of the ground on purpose, or losing team will take delight in kicking it into the stinging nettles at the end of the game.
Team that gets beaten will also...
These new instructions only apply to supply league and above where neutral assistant referees are used. Not to be used at grass roots level with CARs as deemed to be too confusing according to Keith Stroud National game referee manager.
My concern is that CARs will see offside given the previous...
I think the referee involved will be in a pretty bad place mentally after what happened and will need plenty of support to be confident in dealing with future awkward situations. We can all state what should have happened at the time and I am sure he will already know that.
I do feel more...
Thanks for your help. I have now managed to submit. Key was just typing a few letters and then waiting for list of options. I was keying in whole name of teams in exactly as was eventually found on the WGS but it was saying could not find teams !
