    4th Official duties confirmed...

Only got appointment earlier, but Referee I believe is National League level, with a bit of Googling. Teams are step 2 and step 3. Edit - referee is NLN.

    4th Official duties confirmed...

Feel the thread is still recent enough to contribute, been appointed as 4O on Tuesday to an FA Cup game. Really looking forward to it, if a bit nervous. Looking forward to working with Comms if we use them. Not so looking forward to taking the whistle if I needed to after only a full...

    Anthony Taylor - You're a record breaker!!!

Most I've had is 10 cards, 5 yellows, a straight red and 2 double yellow red... And not a mass con in sight!

    Open Age Penalty Clip

The obvious extended arm makes it a very easy decision for me. Had the defender just bumped into him, it might be a harder sell, but there's a very obvious push.

    Rice red card

Wrong. There are different circumstances when a player must be cautioned for unsporting behaviour including if a player: attempts to deceive the referee

    Referring my first game

Learn terminology/law as well. If I give a simple foul that maybe a couple of players pipe up unhappy, a quick "careless tackle, clipped his foot, just a foul lads" tends to do the trick more often than not. Players will respect you a lot more for a little bit of talking, just to let them...

    "Assessed or Treated on Pitch"

Assessed or treated would be by a qualified person i.e physio, if no proper physio then manager etc (e.g Sunday League). If it's just cramp and another player helps with the stretch then I wouldn't be making the 'injured player' leave the FOP. Hope this helps.

    Bournemouth v Newcastle

For me, the speed of the goalkeeper means it's brutality. It's a brutal act due to the goalkeeper moving at that speed. Had the GK been stationary, I'm seeing a caution for USB.

    Bournemouth v Newcastle

Sunday League players rocking up still drunk thinking the pitch and markings etc are straight 😂

    Bournemouth v Newcastle

Why can't it? Curious to know.

    Bournemouth v Newcastle

Not something we should be taking into consideration though as referees. Get law right, first and foremost.

    Bournemouth v Newcastle

My opinion, handball offence. Hits below the armpit line, goes directly into the goal. There can be no question. Nice and easy. Sleeves has never been in law as mentioned above, how would it work with long and short sleeve tops? Red card - Uses excessive force or brutality when not...

    DOGSO or… advantage?

Easy to judge now, but there's no OGSO from the advantage imo, so if you think there's a foul then safe refereeing is to give the DOGSO.

MOAS Appointment but not on MOAS

I was appointed to a game at the end of last season, appointment at 11am, call at 1130 for that evening (rough timings). So they definitely can appoint before confirming.

    Mileage

You're supposed to charge for the shortest route, distance wise, even if you take a longer route (which may be more fuel efficient). So if maps gives me a couple of routes, I'll charge the shortest even if I take a longer one that's actually quicker. Just for info purposes.

    DOGSO from a free-kick

Just out of interest, did the player who shouted actually distract the opponent? One of the situations I hope I never find myself in, it's hard enough explaining relatively clear decisions to players who don't know the LOTG!

    Hinckley Vs Aylestone Park

Don't want to derail, but tail end of last season I had a Leicester Derby in the UCL. Ended with 10 cards (2 were double yellow-red and a straight red). UCL division 1 is all more north teams this season so hopefully little Leicester based shenanigans for me to get involved in!

    Hinckley Vs Aylestone Park

Anyone any thoughts on players surrounding the referee? We were told at development days that it should be an extraordinary report when there's a few players, and I think there's at least a couple of times there is. Granted not something you're always thinking about at the time, And...

    Hinckley Vs Aylestone Park

Third one, I think I can see a case for excessive force or brutality, but I can also see for USB. I'd like to see it at normal speed, ideally.
