Junior/Youth Laces - holding up play

Small matter. U12 game. Just about to restart play when player calls out he's got to tie his laces up. How many times do refs allow this to happen or rather what strategies do you use to speed these stoppages up? I suspect Ciley might say there's nothing in lotg about stopping for laces...

    Open Age OFFINABUS

Just to add another scenario, junior game, coach says 'What's he doing. ****ing 'ell ref, that's never offside'. Followed up in the second half with '****ing 'ell ref, he's a cheat'. These comments were aimed at a club linesman. My reaction would be to remove the coach for the first offence so...

A constant reminder throughout the match.

You can be wrong on an opinion when you've based your opinion on a premise that states c is true because a is low and b is high - if a and b have no causality. You may as well say b was high because I wore black boots. It is nothing more than coincidence.

You're wrong. You'll be telling me next that because you prayed every night for the sun to come up in the morning and it did, prayer works.

    Open Age OFFINABUS

I'm truly astounded by some of the comments on here but this one typifies it. Have we moved so far away from the LOTG, that an f off, directed straight at an official is seen by some as not even a yellow let alone a red? No wonder your fellow Referees are abused up and down the land.

Lower dissent and higher marks is coincidence not causality.

    Open Age OFFINABUS

After a particularly harrowing experience the day before involving OFFINABUS by a junior coach and off the ball stampings and follow throughs (separate thread on it), I went over to the rec with my 11 year old and ended up watching the local village Sunday league fixture. The pitch is next to a...

Junior/Youth Coach Takes Players off Pitch due to health and safety

Thanks for your thoughts and advice all. I've now sent to the safeguarding officers of the local FA and the League. It had already gone to the league sec. I've also sent a copy to the safeguarding officer of the different FA that the offending club is registered with. It does sound as if the...

Junior/Youth Coach Takes Players off Pitch due to health and safety

I am incensed. In an u11 game, after at least 8 off the ball stampings not seen by the ref, 2 elbows, crying children, foul and abusive language/aggression aimed at a club assistant referee (who is also a qualified referee - me) and his own players by the away coach, and several horrendous...

    Wolves v Utd

Whereas I'm struggling to see why Lindelofs 'challenge' isn't in the dangerous category. Straight red for me.

Can you be a bit more explicit please?

    Arsenal v Man UTD

With respect, I wasn't twisting your words, I was merely trying to ascertain whether you thought a nudge was a push. I find it of interest how refs see the same action differently. I don't accept that ball was within playing distance for Fred. I saw his right leg go across and into the attacker...

    Arsenal v Man UTD

So you reasoned there was contact, a slight nudge, that was enough to bring him down. Assuming you agree the nudge wasn't in playing distance of the ball, doesn't that fall under the offence of a push? Therefore the correct decision is a penalty.

    Sterling offside vs Watford?

Is there a definition of challenging for the ball from the IFAB, i.e. how close does the attacker need to be to the defender to be considered to be challenging?

    Sterling offside vs Watford?

Sterling's foot was swinging at the ball at the same time the defender was. Is there a definition of challenging for a ball anywhere?

    Clean boots anyone ?

Apart from the fact his name is Bakary Sako - Mali International, you were spot on. His full name is The Injured Bakary Sako.

    Sterling offside vs Watford?

Surely, surely, surely this is the very definition of challenging for a ball????

    Sterling offside vs Watford?

If this isn't an offside offence, I no longer know what a challenge for a ball is. It's difficult enough to know, when an offside is given when the attacker is 10 yards away from ball but is running behind a defender as no offence has taken place. But even the guidance diagram at the back of...

    Keepers before kick off

The lunchtime kick-off is the explosive Palace v Brighton derby. If Guaita is in goal for Palace then he won't understand any shouts from the ref as he can't speak English. If Hodgson has a senior moment and picks Wayne Hennessey in goal then we run the risk of Wayne giving a straight arm salute...
