They don't seem to care about cautions, though. They rack them up all the time. However, wouldn't going down to 10 players and potentially harming the teams chances of gained the 3 pts there and then, be a much better punishment ?
I wasn't overly impressed. I know she was trying to let the game flow, but there were some bad fouls she missed, which could have led to it spilling over. I think the occasional word with a player on public display would have shown everyone she had it in control.
Therefore, the question is, why were they only made an option for youth, veterans, disability or grassroots football ? I agree with Pembroke. We now have a two tier system
Good question. There were refusals to introduce laws a few years ago, where the the FA stated it couldn't be done because the game should be the same at all levels....then this appears !
Another initiative that's doing it's best to improve player behaviour at grassroots, but once it starts getting ignored at the professional level, it'll fall away like all the other campaigns ? 🤦♂️
Sounds like the type of challenge that if their team did it, the supporters would say it was hard but fair, yet if it was the opposing team it, they'd say it was dangerous 🤦♂️
You just know the crowds in the professional game will be doing the countdown from the stands and demanding a corner as soon as the 8 seconds are up. By the way (unless i've missed this) but how do you know which side they should take the corner from ?
It's the same with a lot of these new laws / campaigns. It'll be hot topic to start with, and the occasional corner kick will be given on TV for all to see, but after a while it'll fizzle out just like the 6 secs rule, crowding refs etc. The countdown from 5 secs seems to me to be for TV...
I think there is a clear benefit to the player though, that's why they've decided to take it from there. They're throwing it straight to their keeper who has very little opposition, as opposed to the halfway line where players are marked up
